the HELL is R-Type
haven't seen a tasofro game for a long time, i think the last one was the komeiji puzzle game
doesn't look that interesting because it's basically just a STG with some gimmick but i'll probably try it out because tasofro is good

oh yes, but i was talking about real games you can play on your own - not fighters

Guess that means no Touhou fighter expansion any time soon if they'd rather spend their time with this.

Nitori a shit.

So basically this without the Touhou. Also that aliasing hurts to look at.

I was just thinking of that.

Is there any other STG games with similar mechanics?, or maybe they indeed based the gameplay on this one.

I'm wondering the same thing actually. I mean there's that other game with Ikaruga mode.

>> No.12051338

The game looks good but I have serious doubts about the whole snowballing concept. Could be good or condemn the game to be eternally a joke.

Welp, till now Tasofro hasn't made a joke game so I have faith in it being a decent STG.

If it's anything like Tumiki Fighters each grabbed piece will be blown off rather easily. In the Wii port they modified it so that each piece has an individual health bar: this makes it more feasible to use them as armour or for their offensive capabilities, whereas in Tumiki Fighters each piece is destroyed as soon as it absorbs a single bullet. There was also a button one could press to "retract" all one's accumulated junk into the fighter's main body, which allowed you to preserve it in moments when the bullets were falling thick. Tumiki Fighters treated them more like a source of score, and you got point bonuses for hanging on to them and leaving them un-retracted, Blast Works made them more like ablative armour and arguably improved the concept.

>Welp, till now Tasofro hasn't made a joke game
Well, their Earth Defence Force spoof wasn't very good... Quite a disappointment actually considering how great a well-done EDF Touhou game could be.

I hope so but it doesn't seem that way from the video. Not only you don't see any health bar on the pieces but also you see at the end of the comical part about how many pieces you can get that Nitori's equipement fills the whole screen.

The only thing that may make the game interesting is on pic relaated screen. Maaybe you launch all the stuff you've gathered in one attack that may have scoring and survival purposes like the screenshot suggets.

We'd have to wait until 5/11.

I suspect there will be difficulty settings. It would be stupid to make a game where you can't die.

The Marisa Defense Force game wasn't very good, yeah. I guess they spent too much effort in the 3D gimmick.

I finally got the chance to play a proper EDF game, and the differences are pretty evident. Setting the game in random rooms of the SDM means there's much more empty space, fewer obstacles for the enemies to climb over, which makes the gameplay less interesting. I actually don't recall the spiderbots being able to scale walls like the EDF ants do. Not to mention that the enemy fairies are nearly impossible to hit with most of the assault rifle weapons, which have dreadful accuracy and middling rates of fire. Maybe I should have played on harder difficulties to unlock more weapons, but there was a real lack of oomph behind the gameplay that's difficult to express. Something about the sound effects, the fact you're playing a tiny Marisa instead of fighting against gigantic enemies, the whimsical-looking (and oversized) weaponry, the friendly troops that are even more useless than in an actual EDF game, the fact that most of the levels are just big rooms with nowhere to go.

Well, it makes you think about the amount of effort that needs to go into even a silly game like EDF, I guess.
