I feel like you're forgetting that pretty much all the songs in these concerts are by doujin groups, indie artists, who for the most part only use(d) vocaloid as a way to get their lyrics into the music. I've read interviews with some of these people and vocaloid helped them be able to hire singers and get their names out there.
