So I was toying with the Idea of learning a third language and decided on Japanese. I figured some of you here already speak japanese and I was wondering how did you learn it?

What mainly brought me to the Idea was pic related. A language learning "game" that popped up on steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/274980/
Do you guys have any opinion on that? Or maybe even tried it? I don't delude myself into thinking that something like that would teach me to actually hold a conversation or anything (since "real" language learning programs are often really expansive) but I'd Imagine it gives me a starting vocabulary.

Learn kana, kanji and then play pokemon and read manga with furigana.

That's a terrible advice.

Learning a language is pure hard work. "games" and "programs" are worth shit. If you don't have the motivation to do it yourself, you're never making it.

the best way to learn a new languange is to go and live where that language is spoken forcing you to learn it by being surrounded with said languange

Well I need something that can teach me pronunciation. (Something which I already struggle with). There is only so much I can do on my own from books.

Watching anime, doramas, those idol programs, researching methods to learn japanese pronunciation properly, etc. will help you, probably.

Even if, he didn't ask for advice. He asked how we learned Japanese.

Read the reviews, influent is slow and bad and it won't teach you anything but vocabulary.
You could learn 100x more words for free on memrise.com

You're not going to learn from Influent alone.

It's a japanese culture board. Pretty sure that learning japanese does fit better into /jp/ than /a/. after all I'm not learning japanese just so I can watch animu without subs. I'm not THAT much of a loser (but pretty fucking closse)
