Why do poeple try and sexualize everything between Marisa and Alice?

Marisa is a friend/neighbor. But I imagine the older Alice gets, the less she'll be able to empathize with humans at all.

All touhou official games, and all the ZUN books, like symposium and etc. I just find it fun to see romance between the girls, even though there was only one hint of yuri in the series and it was in a PC 98 game.

Why are people so obsessed with this cliche? It's in like 90% of non-ero touhou doujinshi, and it's really fucking old by now. Seems like every no-name doujinshi artist resorts to it when they want to add some forced drama to their shitty romance story.
