Let me try. I was the one who said it was a little disappointing compared to DI in the previous thread.

Let me start with the good points. First of all, the BGM and art mostly are fantastic. Voice acting is also good although I didn't find it as memorable as DI. The story itself starts in full gear and you should feel drawn in without getting bored from the very beginning. One thing I also liked was how in depth it goes with some characters, and most of the characters are pretty interesting. It's been a long time since I read DI but from my impression the text felt a lot less dry and repetitive this time. There were quite a few times during DI that I got bored or tired of reading and there barely were any during Senshinkan. The whole thing was more consistent with less ups and downs.

Now for the disappointments. First of all after the trial, or first three chapters, you will have most of the cast introduced. There are seemingly six or seven groups that are engaged in a battle royale, however it turns out to be a lot more simple than that and after the beginning it's almost exclusively the main characters' group against the others. There are not that many different matchups during the VN and I would have wanted more variation in that. There were one or two cool team battles though.

As for the battles themselves, they are mostly quite different from DI. Instead of the usual hotblooded pure fighting a lot of them are more gimmicky and about reaching a certain condition to activate a new power to end the fight. There's nearly not as much chuuni and you'll be disappointed if you were expecting chuuni elements. All the characters apart from one are Japanese so you're not going to get any German or Latin chanting, and even the Japanese ones are short and don't really get you particularly pumped up. I would have wanted more over the top moments.

[Error: Field too long.]

>>11950160
>>11950545
Like I said before there are less ups and downs, which also means there are a lot less great and memorable moments that DI had plenty of. There were only one or two especially memorable moments for me in Senshinkan. I also said in the previous thread how I felt the writer wanted to make everything more accessible and easier to understand this time around. This is especially apparent in the last route where in the beginning literally every mystery gets handed and explained to you on a silver platter. If you paid attention before nothing will come as big surprise and you're left feeling like someone just poured a bucket of cold water on you. Made me feel uninterested about almost every fight of the last route. At that point I also felt the whole thing might have been better off with less characters with better focus and more spotlight on the remaining ones. I can't really put my finger on which characters I would get rid off though.

Most of the heroines feel more like accessories rather than an integral part of each route. They all belong to the same main character group and apart from different worries they don't really differ much from each other. There is barely any slice of life so there isn't much interaction between heroines either. Overall the heroines felt a lot weaker compared to DI .

I wouldn't say it wasn't DI level, but I would say it was not nearly as memorable as DI.

>> No.11950674

>>11949741
I was like that but then I took about 6 months off from eroge. My interest just started coming back.

I've also realized I don't like recent eroge and how everything is divided into either the moe camp or the tryhard camp. I'm going to stick with old stuff, which luckily there is enough of to last me for years probably.

For some reason after the trial I had the same feeling, that Masada was playing safe and wrote a more accessible story in general. I didn't expect he would tone down a little the battles tough.
And yeah, in a way Masada is better writing about the villains than the heroes themselves, still I think he did a good job with DI, KKK was his better work for me, with the main cast, the villains and battles.

I really look forward to Innocent Grey's new title, Flowers. The fact that they are trying a new genre while keeping their style or what ever sounds really promising to me. Their other titles have been a bit disappointing for me in terms of gameplay and story, but I really like the over all feeling and atmosphere. And I like girls kissing each other. Too bad it's an all-ages game.

放課後の不適格者 also looks promising. The protagonist seems to have a personality which is now falling apart. It's not clear yet what's going on in this game, but there are some dark undertones, which I like. I'm currently downloading the trial.

Are cliches not something to be avoided in japanese media?
Because I randomly downloaded an eroge released last month, and the first scene was the protagonist opening a window to see a girl changing the next house over, whereupon she screams HENTAI!! and all the usual shit happens. I shut it off immediately on reflex.

Seriously, what's up with this? Don't people usually avoid cliches, or at least try to subvert them in some way? Why is this acceptable in japan? Jesus Christ, maybe I should have stuck with translated ones and never learned japanese, because it's steadily become apparent to me that this is the most creatively bankrupt genre in existence. Makes hollywood movies look avant-garde.

It really depends on the studio and staff working on it. Well established studios such as Alcot, August, and Yuzusoft overall tend to be above average with decent production values.
Newly formed developers tend to make shitty moege to make a quick buck and then die out after one or two titles. Unfortunately these tend to saturate the market and are coincidentally the worst kind of moege.

Some thoughts on IM0, which I just now completed:
The combat was fairly interesting thanks to the varied skills, investing additional MP for charged spells is a decent high risk/high reward mechanic. I wish the individual positioning of the units on the chessboard would have mattered more, maybe introduce some movement during battles with terrain then becoming a factor. Regular attacks were too weak in comparison to the skills, but being able to always switch between equipped weapons is nice.
The random encounter rate was too high, that wouldnt have been such a problem if fleeing battles were not so tedious and connected with nigh inevitable HP loss. If you are going to have random encounters, escaping should always be possible with one click, unless you are fighting monsters out-leveling you. It is good however that you can always trigger encounters, ultimately this lead however to you always blindly running to the first best regen spot, regardless of whether you want to finish a dungeon or just grind. Which leads to my main gripe with the combat system, the reliance on consumables, especially later on in the game when the healer summon creature will be too weak to fight. Three easily spent bars you need to constantly replenish are too much, this lead too often to at least one party member being relegated to a barkeeper of sorts.
The non-linearity of the dungeons is commendable, they could have used a few more open spaces though. An always accessible dungeon map would have worked wonders. I liked the door "puzzles" at the very end of the game, more such map interactions would have been appreciated.

The freedom of choice of action and the occasional decisions with far-lasting effects were a nice change of pace from the usual JRPG linearity, probably more due to VN than cRPG influences, but still (I seem to lack a couple scenes from the whole princess and horned demon saga, anything of note happening there or is it just a sex romp with that bird monster?).

The plot was definitely hooking, even if the transition from chapter 6 on felt jarring, as the story changed considerably but the gameplay not in the equally expected fashion. I wouldnt have minded if the game ended at chapter 5 or 7 really, those could easily have worked as endings.
The BGM is great, unfortunately all I can of the game's OST are dead mediafire links and unseeded torrents. Is the append disc just more dungeons or does it add anything to the plot? Though the torrent of that isnt being seeded either.
Overall I liked this game very much, havent been this sucked up in a title all year.

One more thing, what exactly was the deal with the body in pic related, did it move due to "auto-protocol (considering what it is)", some sub-conscious act, or was it indicating that a certain someone is still somehow in there?

Novelization is shit. Basically, they took out text, cropped CG into some ridiculously small pieces and slammed them together in crappy NVL "VN". GnK1 is easy to hack, so gameplay wouldn't be too much of bother but you would get full CGs and voices.

Just beat the lv400 hagure majin with my team ranging from lv190 to lv300. Celica is only lv280 but does 60k per hit, the next best is Rita with her 12k.
Boss only uses 4 attacks and 2 of them are elemental so the supports can easily avoid them, and Hakuginkou with her buffs really makes it easy.

The last battle of Senshinkan was pretty cool but the game would have benefited from a longer epilogue.
Overall my favorite part of Senshinkan was the narration, vivid and ever moving, going from omniscient narrator to one of the actor back and forth again, the narration is even more refined than DI and KKK in my opinion.
Though dialogues-wise it's one or two level below them, mostly because it goes for a more normal experience compared to the theatrical presentation of Dies.
But I guess it's also due to the fact that the characters aren't as full of themselves and feel more human which go with the theme I guess, well of course there is still Shinno and Dan that basically steal the spotlight everytime they appear, Amakasu is great too but he should seriously have had more screentime.

For the other characters I think Yoshiya is kind of a failed opportunity, I liked him a lot in the common route but he pretty much get no action if the first 3 routes and while he gets a lot of cool scenes in the last by the end I still couldn't "feel" him, same for his various romantic options, it clearly feel hamfisted and the game would have been the same with going on the friendship options everytime, same for Narutaki and the "triangle" around him, the heroines are all cool in their own way though some also felt like missed opportunity (Ayumi) or simply didn't have a story as powerful as I'd have wanted (Mizuki), Rinko ended up being the coolest even if her entire conflict kind of felt forced (though it fits the theme of the game and isn't dragged on so I'm giving it a pass)

In the end the only character arc among the protagonists I really cared about was Harumitsu, him getting his time to shine in both Rinko and Mizuki's routes was immensely satisfying.

Also I don't know if it was discussed before but some of the messages presented by Senshinkan probably won't sit well with some people, personally I disagree with several of these points but I didn't take anything from my enjoyment of the game, and at least Masada had the balls to say something and stick with it.

After KKK and this it would be nice if Masada would come back to a more western occult setting like Paralost and DI next time though

Guys im not sure if this is right place to ask but i will ask it anyway. As you guys can see it seems like there is some kind of special wallpaper set of koihime and i really want to complete this set since art is seriously good but i just cant find them.i could found only 18 of them, and it seems like there is goddamn 120.

can anybody help me about them? most likely i cant find all of them but even some suggestion about finding some others would be really big help.

Will the other routes (except Mayuri's which I plan on going for the spin-off) have this much drama? Because if so, I guess I'll just go play another title from the same company.

But how bittersweet are they? Because this one was quite harsh, honestly. In a way I found it sadder than your usual key nakige, for example. I'm just not in the mood for going throughout this again. As long as they're not as sad as this route, I wouldn't mind at all.

Just finished Setsuna end in WA2 CC. The route was pretty slow near the end and I was waiting for that cliffhanger.
It was pretty much the only happy end in CC, others were a bit brutal. Also, I initially expected otherwise but Tomo turned out to be a bro. One of the few very likeable characters in this.

Before I start coda, I'm just wondering how long it is, at least compared to CC?

I'm actually reading coda just now. The end of the route was a bit annoying, with just sex happening for a while too. That is my biggest complaint about WA2, how the sex comes all at once. Tomo is indeed a pretty good character, one of my favourites too I think.

What do you think of Setsuna then? Before her route I didn't care for her at all, but after it she is my favourite girl, even after Kazusa is back.

Chiaki's route was brilliant, probably best of CC I'd say. I don't think the ending to it was too brutal, either. The other two felt a little extreme, though, particularly Mari's.

As I haven't finished coda I can't say exactly, but it seems to be shorter than CC anyway. It is still fairly long though. I've finished Kazusa normal and am reading Kazusa true now.

Reading Rakuen, I don't think I was ever ready for this bit.

I was under the impression as JB that the core would just be Kazuki's brain, so when the body popped up everything was just !!!!!!!. This bit with the CG hit me hard, too. The sub popping up, the music kicking in and Kazuki just being Kazuki and Amane's reaction right after it felt like something I'd been waiting for to happen ever since Kajitsu.

I hope the rest of the game delivers.

I just played through the 放課後の不適格者 trial. And here are some thoughts:

(The trial is very short (>1h) so anything within spoilers is revealed in the beginning of the game, but still, I spoil the whole thing)

The story is basically this: marks show up randomly(?) on the forehead of people from the main character's class. Those who get the mark develop superpowers, lose control over their bodies and start killing. In order to prevent this, the class has decided (it seems) the MC kill those who get the mark. Epic battles.

I don't really like the writing, but at least it's not slow.

The biggest problem for me is the art. You can clearly see from the interface, the music and the story that they are going for something horror-like, yet the character sprites and the backgrounds look like they could be in a love comedy. The artist from Lovesick Puppies is doing this game.

I might play this after Flowers.

I had the opposite impression from the trial. From the very start, the narration is pretty descriptive and the entire farewell scene felt like it could be cut by a few minutes and nothing would be lost. It wasn't the bad kind of slow (like, say, Hapymaher) so it didn't really bother me, but these scenes could start getting repetitive and dragging on later in the story, and for such a short trial there was already a high amount of characters already introduced. All this detail also points to Yuugao coming back, but I guess that's not very surprising anyway.

Still, I found it solid, but of course it's a very small part of the game so there's plenty of time for it to become either the greatest thing since sliced bread or the worst disgrace humanity has ever produced.

I do like Setsuna much more than I did in IC that's for sure. Especially in her own route. Though, it may be because there is extra sympathy for her after how badly she's been treated for years. Kazusa was by far my favourite in IC so I can't decide betwwen them just yet.

Chiaki's route was indeed great (best of the other heriones), but it left a bad taste in my mouth, probably because I hate her. Mari's route I felt had an excellent ending.

I definitely agree that some parts dragged on way too long, but they still managed to fit what I felt should have been a much bigger part of the game in less than an hour. It was almost a bit overwhelming for me.
