Only doujin games I'm fucking with right now are Umineko: Ougon Musou Kyoku CROSS (yay for being a fighting game faggot) and Touhouvania 2. Had to restard Touhouvania 2 due to my old laptop dying on me.

Anyone recommend me some good fighting, RPG, SRPG, or side-scrolling action doujin games

I'd play some Touhou Labyrinth 2 but the game runs at half speed on my toaster. I was really looking forward to this game but I'm not playing a grinding game at that speed. I finished Nightmare of Rebellion but the game has no endgame challenges. No point in wasting time grinding rare stuff for nothing.

I had hell running that on my laptop, have you patched it at all? They added some extra options to turn off the flashy shit and filters, really helped a lot. Some of the spellcards still slowed me down to like 10fps though.

I have version 1.151 and even with everything turned off it always slows down in battle to 30 fps, even if no one is doing anything. Just walking around has the game struggle to stay above 50 and often it slows down to 30 for a few seconds.
