Why only Dive 1? I thought everyone agreed that Dive 2 was better

>> No.11889433

>>11889417
Dive2 got a bit too repetitive with Aki's route being way too similar to Chinatsu's apart from the last few chapters and there's the forced unskippable flashback sequences, most of which you already read through once in Dive1. Makoto's route was the high point of Dive2 for me.

Sora's route started out great but turned into battle grinding. It's like GIGA tried to find an excuse to shoehorn every single enemy and boss type for the sake of it. The ending also felt a bit weak, being too predictable when it came to knowing in which order you'd wake up the heroines, then see them die "tragic deaths" only to be conveniently resurrected for "everyone lives" happy ending. Other conveniently stupid developments were Kou finding Neunzhen's lab by sheer accident and deciding to leave Gilbert alive who then fucks everything up and causes all the drama.
I also preferred the earlier routes' multiple antagonists with their own agendas over Neunzhen who felt more like a generic JRPG baddie without personality.

Both parts were good, but overall I liked Dive1 quite a lot more.

>> No.11889463

>>11889433
Yeah it looks more like you liked the idea of the plot itself than how it developed to me.
I agree that Aki's route reused too much material from Chinatsu, though it also introduced a lot of thing making for a route that was far too long for its own good but I guess they thought it was necessary to reintroduce the whole thing since it's the first route of Dive 2.

But for your other complain, I think we just saw the story differently, I personally don't care if some things may feel generic if it's well executed, I mean the 王道 exist for a reason and while "convenient" stuff did happen the game itself never lacked in power and intensity.
Which is the main problem I had with Dive 1 personally, only Nanoha's route really had that intensity, Rain's route get a pass since it's busy introducing the setting but Chinatsu's route is the low point of the game.
And for the multiple antagonists thing while the situation seemed complicated at first, I liked how everything was just a chess game between 2 otherworldly power using proxy to act, it had a meta aspect that was really cool, Neunzehn itself and is personality (or lack of) fits the thematic of the organic AI vs mechanic AI that is present since the beginning. And you needed someone as "pure" and singleminded to be a threat on such a multiversal scale, he is like Hajun in a sense.

Rance 2 got a remake too so play that, don't forget to use the new script though.
Rance 3 is the first game in the series that really get into the setting so it's worth doing, it builds a lot of foundations that are still used in the recent games, it's also a pretty short game.
Rance 4 is closer to the recent Rance in term of narrative and is actually a pretty solid game all around, battle system kind of suck though it's easy to ctrl through.
Rance 4.1 and 4.2 should be skipped, they don't bring anything to the series and are shit in general.
5D is worth playing for the story and characters it introduce (Rizna, Copandon, Revenge-chan) but the gameplay is horrible rng nonsense.

And Rance 6 is downright one of the best eroge rpg ever made, it's amazing and has tons of content.

There is also Kichikuou Rance that is a pretty legendary game, it's a gaiden that encompass the storyline from Rance 6 to 10 with a gameplay similar (but less refined) to Sengoku Rance, again an amazing game.

My personal recommendation, having read through raiL-soft's catalogue: read their games in the chronological order, unless there's a game you're specifically interested in for some reason. Kagerou Touryuuki and Albatross Koukairoku are his best-regarded (and arguably most complete) games, but they also share enough similarities that I'd recommend reading something else (such as Bengarachou) between them.

The Astelight series in itself isn't bad but it kind of suffers from the problem that Mareni apparently can't write full-length games any more, and as such none of the individual titles in this series are quite as satisfying as the three first games

This was quite cute, Hinata was so cheerful and fun and nice, mainly super cute in an imouto way which is what the game was going for. Even the sex scenes, at least some of them, were hot, which is a bonus, honestly expected to be more bored with it since I don't tend to dig 'nothing ever happens in it, not even comedy' kind of moeges.

Yeah, wanted to get an idea on how it worked and all. Seems the other girls don't have stupid stuff like needing high intellect out of the blue for a single scene while the rest just require the same three stats for bonuses.
I really like Hime's playful/bro kind of personality and her design and especially her voice are huge bonuses for me. After her I'll probably do Seine, I don't like her much, but she's basically spoken like, 3 lines, and lastly Wakoto, for reasons similar to Hime.

I needed some moege after my last two games, both chuuni stuff I had on the backlog, one of them halfway done, it was hell.

>> No.11890606

>>11890525
I liked it a lot because it's very "clear" about what it wants to do and removes some of the bullshit which frankly many moege could do without. The common route is short, each individual route focuses pretty much entirely on romancing the girl you want and you also get a few things (like the Lovely Call system and the minor dating sim mechanics) that add up to a pretty nice "here is your waifu, enjoy" experience.

There's a bunch of Append Life add-ons if you want some more content too, though you might need a proxy to access the official site and download them. You might want to check out the Love Love Birthday Collections for each heroine too, which are 4 mini-fandisks (one for each heroine) with image songs, another after story and a few assorted extras like wallpapers.

世界と世界の真ん中で from last month has been quite fun from what I've played (Minori route and part of Kokoro's route). There's a ton of cohabitation slice-of-life in it, with the heroines and the obligatory male friend living together in the same dormitory. They call the protagonist their mother since he's the one who primarily takes care of the chores. The underlying plot honestly feels a bit "unnecessary", though.

Last month also had 愛サレるームメイト, which from what I've played (only Maomi's route, which was pretty much the only thing that appealed to me in it anyway) was every bit as bad as I expected after FaintTone, but if I'm not wrong you get choose which heroine you get to share a room with if that tickles your fancy enough. Nice idea with bad execution from what I've seen, but I'm not going to stick around for the rest. FaintTone also had a similar gimmick that allowed you to choose between living in the city or in the country side, but soundtrack aside it was pretty poor.

This is considerably more techy than I expected. A pleasant surprise.

Hoping it keeps up the same level of attention to setting and detail, and doesn't throw it all out in the character routes for cheap unrelated drama. There's already too many vns with interesting settings that skip over all of the interesting repercussions of technology/magic/genetically engineered cat ears.

It was certainly pretty mediocre from what I've played. I only did Mai's (the gray haired onee-san with the huge knockers) route since she looked right up my alley, and while it wasn't terrible, I find it hard to recommend unless one of the heroines really catches your attention (which Mai did for me because of her design and Maki Izumi, and going back to that conversation above about shrill voices I can say that she's be a fine example of ear cracking high pitch... and I love it).

It wasn't particularly funny, it was completely outdone by other games in the visual department and some of the cast was kind of annoying. I still enjoyed it and Mai's route did have some very cute moments while also not bringing up annoying drama, but if you want something cute and simple there's tons better out there. The music also initially came off as a bit on bad side, but I grew to enjoy a few particular tracks, such as the extremely catchy opening theme and the H scene BGM, which to this day is still my favourite H scene BGM.

What other reasons does he have for murdering people beside being in a cursed armor and wanting to chase after his imouto who is out there murdering people? That's just the typical grimedark edgy story's settings almost every time. It's almost like if I said SAO's MC was edgy, its fanboys would always argue there're reasons for his grimedark nature. He is edgy and grimedark, period.

Well, I'm not interested in this conversation, only expressing my opinion.

no idea what the argument is about.
the whole game of muramasa is pretty much just saying: killing someone = sin no matter what excuses you made up for it.

the reason the curse of 善悪相殺 exists ( if you kill a bad guy, you must kill a good guy) is simply to remind the user of muramasa that there is no justice in terms of killing someone.

sure, perhaps you killed a really really really evil guy, but who is to judge he is evil? maybe, to someone else, his family, his lover, his friends, or even the little girl he helped, he is a real good guy. no one has the right to judge who is right or wrong, good or evil.

if you think that you have justice with you and you just keep killing the people that you consider villains, you'll eventually turn into 悪鬼 like the little blue hair girl. just keep killing. just keep killing. because there are always people you think are bad, and that's why war and conflicts never stop.

>> No.11897334

>>11897327
I think the vast majority who read the novel agrees with you, but there always some people bound to dislike X work regardless of how well it's accepted. There's no need to answer those oblivious baits, and even if isn't a bait, it's not like he will change his mind.

>> No.11897354

>>11897327
And that's some really middle school level philosophy and it's entirely pointless because according to that logic nobody should ever do anything and let the bad guys do whatever, because nobody is in position to judge what's good or what's bad. It's also why I thought Ichijou?'s route was really bad and stupid as fuck.

>> No.11897366

>>11897354
why did you jump to the conclusion that no one would do anything? do I really have to rephrase this

of course you can kill the bad guys, but you can't consider that as an act of justice (which is what ichijou was thinking) and have to acknowledge that you're a sinner as well,

>> No.11897378

>>11897366
When you are doing it for the good and justice there's no need to consider that and you can be perfectly at peace with yourself without that bullshit logic to shit yourself unnecessarily.

>I'm a sinner
That's exactly why I say it's edgy and grimedark.

You know, out in the real world, killing criminals is kind of a big deal and doesn't happen too often, mostly because it's not something that can be reverted even after you have the whole picture behind this particular criminal's case. But sure, keep calling it "grimedark" and pretending that justifying murder is fine.

You could also, you know, restrain criminals without killing them.

I was not justifying murder though. I'm saying when you do what you think is necessary for good and justice, there's no reason to consider the other side, like for example that the bad guy might have a loving family at home. What's necessary doesn't always include killing, but in Muramasa that certainly seemed like the case.

Like when you're eating your fried chicken wing do you consider yourself killing an animal? The emos might. That thinking, trying to define good and evil, is just pointless.
