How do you feel about otaku marketing? Will you buy a product just because it has an anime girl printed on it?

>> No.11878334

Business Otaku here.
/jp/ is part of a rapidly growing age demographic of young, unmarried adults with disposable income. Typically around 20-28, this group is known for being looser with spending and having more income from a lack of significant other or child, so they are more likely to buy entertainment and hobby goods.

So expect more Otaku Culture Pandering as time goes on. Especially here in the West.

Every story of redemption starts with a first step...

When I realized that I was falling behind my classmates in school, I decided I wanted to do something about it. I worked really hard over the next five years to learn as much as I can from my teachers, mentors, classmates and of course, all of my millions of adorable friends! (。⌒∇⌒)。

And when I was eleven years old, I put all of that knowledge to work and took my first baby step towards redemption. Tabbed browsing, page zooming, search box, RSS support and phishing protection - those are just some of the many, many new awesome skills I learned and put into practice that year.

I'm soooo proud of the progress I've made. However, there is still much to learn! I won't give up until I become the very, very best again! *(≧▽≦)*

There is nothing you could define a 'Singaporean character' around simply because Singaporean culture is such a mishmash.
Japanese animation styles provided a easily accessible and popular base with which to build 'Inori Aizawa' off from.
Plus Singapore has thousands of weebs so it seems some of them got a job at MS.

Damn this is bad. MS ads have always been bad/corny in general though.

I wish they started focusing on actually producing good software and improving it, instead of just relying on anti-competiveness and jewing every last shekel they can out of everything. Your stuck with a file manager that doesn't have tabs, no support for common standard network protocols, support for a select few file systems, the default text editor is a horrible joke, default web browser is horrible, default image editor is horrible, the default terminal emulator is horrible, the CLI is extremely horrible to the point of being useless, there's relatively no configuration you do with the OS as it's that locked-down and inflexible, file permissions are a horrible clusterfuck, default image viewer is horrible, the default everything with Windows is pretty much horrible and needing to be replaced with an alternative. It's almost amazing really.

It's what I am referring to when I say that they don't even bother improving their software. They don't care about improving their software, software improvements are dangerous changes that cost them money, they only care about scraping it along to keep it alive. They've let it all rot, and continue thinking it will be okay because their desktop marketshare keeps third-party proprietary software devs often supporting their platform first, along with the legacy of windows-centric software they've left behind, and OEM preinstalls. I cannot say they're wrong, as it really has worked, strictly from a business perspective, but certainly not in terms of producing good software and furthering the advancement of technology.

They decide to create complete walled garden abominations like WindowsRT and Windows Phone instead though.

I'm more likely to take a look at something if it does have otakuish themes to it. However, it's just marketing. If a product doesn't give me any tangible or direct benefits then I won't buy it. If there's a better product out there then I'll use that instead regardless of marketing.

Quite often most otaku themed advertising whose primary audience is non-japanese is aimed at the weeaboo/entry level spergs whom I'd rather not associate myself with. This will actually cause me to be far less likely to buy or use a product directly attributed to my disdain for that part of the fanbase that which I don't want to associate with.

>How do you feel about otaku marketing?
I interpret it as a big "BEWARE WEEABOOS AHEAD AVOID AT ALL COSTS" warning sign when encountered on western internets.

>Will you buy a product just because it has an anime girl printed on it?
No, but I'm far more likely to download it though. You don't want to know how many terabytes of traffic and gigabytes of HDD I've wasted on anime girls (and no, I'm not even talking about anime here).
They're pretty and I like pretty things.

Not working pretty well, if you ask me.

I've always did. Are you an idiot?

I still use IE for stuff that requires payments because noscript tends to make sone websites stop functioning.

Inori edition doesn't is no different other than giving you a bunch of bookmarks of her favorite websites and changing your homepage...

Most major retailers in the US have automated registers where you can scan and bag your own goods without someone working as a cashier.
This way you don't even have to talk to anyone when you go out shopping.

I can buy all the lube I want at CVS with no awkward small-talk.
