I don't understand Imuya's appeal. Goya is genki, Iku is provocative, Hachi is a nerd, and Shioi is naive. But Imuya is just a girl. Too many things moved or change to make it worth it. It'd make updating a pain the the ass should Grabacr07 add new content or change things up with themes. I saw someone try to do it before, but it stopped before it got anywhere interesting. So instead I just made it super easy to build, grab the files I need, and stick them into a rar file.

You can't not do 5-2, you just have to rotate sub runs on 4-2 for steel to afford 5-2.

I do 5-2 with 3 CLTs, so generally it's not that expensive unless I'm really unlucky.

I'm facing quite a dilemma with Kongou class equipment, what do you guys use in the last slot? Sanshiki as been my primary choice since November event, but i was thinking about switching it with AA rockets (+6) or a Type 14 radar, another 46cm seems overkill, and 15.5cm doesn't give enough stats to justify the loss of double attack.

Not that guy but I disagree, Imuya can always do 2-3 reliably for me without getting hit and she gets cut-ins constantly during night battle.

I suggest 2 subs if all you care is clearing dailies and score some extra fuel, 4 subs if you want to S rank the boss node or clear it without a lot of issues for drops and that 5 boss kills daily.

So /jp/ when do you give up a sortie? I was running 5-2 just now and Ooi got into orange at the first node. Finishing the sub node with very little problem, I was moved to SE facing that yellow BB cunt and my Kongo was crit to orange while leaving no abyssal scum alive in that node.

But I still decide to press onto the boss node anyway because I'm channeling my inner Bittenfeld and got away with a A rank leaving the boss relatively unharmed while the rest dead. So back to the question, when should you stop a sortie when you know it's pretty hard to S-rank a boss early on in the map?

biggest problem with crafting isn't resource, it's the devkit. spending 50 devkits for a couple of sonar isn't worth it for me, when I could be doing LSC or crafting planes instead.

With her ASW stat 2 sonars are more than enough to kill a single sub in Diamond or Line Ahead, you could even try with 1 Type 3 Sonar and 2 15.5 cannons, but a single miss on the sub could ruin the whole run, so just to be sure equip 2, but this is only if you want the Medium range, i went with full ASW gear and Short range and still got S rank.

I'm mostly just curious on how it works.

Which isn't much to say really. All it does is run along side your game and gives you info from the game as you are playing it. It doesn't translate in game (yet).

The good thing about it is that its multi-platform. Works on Windows, Linux, and Mac.

First run I get through all 3 nodes without more than scrap damage and get diverted south
Second run I finish two nodes with nearly no damage and the third has the air strike bomb one of my DDs straight to orange, an elite BB do an actual crit on Ooi, then a gold CV do an actual crit and reduce Maya to orange and the BB hammering Maya to red.
Retreat with 1 red, 2 orange
And I can fucking bet it would've sent me to the boss

Here's a tip, from a new admiral to a new admiral. Don't craft battleships. 250/30/200/30 is your go-to recipe for any ship you think you may need. Don't even think of using a battleship or aircraft carrier until you have your third fleet, even then it's very costly and has a huge downtime if they get damaged.. Also train some destroyers, trust me.

Don't field battleships with destroyers either. A single battleship will double the shelling phase and destroyers aren't that great there.

It really depends on how much you play. When I was new, I could field BB/CV combo easily because I play very little (I wasn't spamming expedition until fall event). If you play a lot, then yes, BB/CV will be detrimental and you have to conserve. Just use BB in PvP to rake easy exp and field DD/CL/CA for normal maps. CV/L wise, one or two is enough or just field them when there are no CV/L in PvP listings.

There are cases where all torpedoes converge to the same target but it's pretty rare. The general rule of thumb is the more enemy you have, the higher chance of getting a crit. What's the level of your subs? Low level subs get damage easily but their fast repair time compensate it. Once they are properly leveled, they get rarely get crit.

Sorry I'm a bit late to find this, I'm KCT's author.

The README in the repo you're quoting is a bit outdated (rewriting it now), and written at like two in the morning. There's way less misleading stuff at http://kancolletool.github.io/faq/

Basically, it doesn't use an external proxy like Commie's service, it bounces things against a proxy run locally on your own machine, as this is the easiest way to intercept data as it flows through.

None of your data ever leaves your machine, and it's undetectable to DMM - it masks its User-Agent to look like Google Chrome, and your IP doesn't change.

You can confirm this yourself by looking at viewer/KVProxy.cpp and viewer/KVProxy_p.cpp in the source (macviewer/KCTViewer/KCTViewer/KVHTTPProtocol.m for the mac UI equivalent). It just catches responses, reads interesting ones, calculates a CRC32 of every string it finds and looks it up in a dictionary of translated strings, then feeds the modified content back to the game.

What it does use is Commie's translation data, as in, their text translation (http://api.comeonandsl.am/)) - anyone who doesn't like their translation is free to host their own using some similar method, and I'll be sure to implement it. I'm working on a way to patch swf files on the fly, but SWF is a massive clusterfuck of a format and a major pain to deal with, so it's taking some time.

Latest KCV has a message from the author on how its not a cheating tool and also has translated quests, translated ship list, a quest tab with translated quests, rankings and basic craft/drop logging to a text file.

I personally find this kind of thing better than directly messing with the game and make it display the translations in game instead of the runes.

Logging is a good idea too. I was planning on talking to the guys at kancolle-db.tk too, thinking of automatically submitting data to them and then retrieve an admiral's past crafts as well, or something like that...

Now I'm thinking of being able to export a sheet along the lines of those LSC craft charts out of your crafting history or something like that too.
Any ideas for that?

KCV handles the quests like this, maybe you should just contact the guy working on the english version of KCV and you two could work on something together?

For logging, you should check logbook.
That one saves everything to a CSV file and everything is translated, including the drops.

If its the quest tab, it only shows your active quests and the progress on that tab.
The progress on the quests updates every time you check the quest tab in game and thats pretty much it.

On the right, you can see your available daily quests and available weekly quests.

For how it works, you'd have to talk to Zharay as I have no idea on how it works.

No, I meant the logbook, which is something I've only heard mentioned once before. I'm rarely on 4chan outside of when I get linked to interesting posts in KanColle threads, so that's probably why.

I have an idea of how it works, I just have to get around to implementing it somehow... the quest API is just about the messiest thing in the entire game. Followed Zharay too, I'll be sure to talk to him at some point.

Logbook looks like this, you probably should check it yourself though. Links are in the OP.

It logs expeditions, crafts and drops to CSV files.
It also has a nice search function for your ship list but I find KCV to be better.

Logbook is written in java so it should run in any OS.

And from what I understand it uses a PAC file to proxy all the data from the servers and read it, like almost every tool.

As for the logging part, it saves everything from crafts to drops and put them in a csv file.

I've used both KCV and logbook, the only "downside" some people has with logbook is that you need to use either a browser or flash projector in order to make it work, I think you can run KCV and logbook sicne KCV uses IE.

The only downside for me is that I can't use my vpn with logbook since it uses a proxy so I don't have to route all my traffic through the vpn and just the browser, but recently KCV freezes a lot for me, well, more like IE's flash player freezes, which is rare because I can use the projector without any issue.
