Starting out was a lot more enjoyable in the past. Now, the game is sorta catered towards end-game players, and the early game is set up to propel you to that end game level as fast as possible. It's still really fun, especially if you've got a lot of friends play. ;_;

I think you can do that, but I'm talking more about how the game immediately gives you a bunch of skills for free, instead of having you exploring around to unlock them; with dual wielding, allowing players to just smash their way through early dungeons without having to learn how to play the game; easier leveling, meaning you'll get to a higher level each rebirth; lots of strong unupgradable weapons, meaning you don't have to bother with upgrading and enchanting a weapon of your own.

It's a lot of little nitpicky things, some of which are actually improvements, but I think it takes away from some of the experience. I liked started the game as a complete peasant with no skills, having to attend classes to learn things, and struggling to even get through Alby dungeon.

After playing mabi, I'm not sure I'll ever play a non-US developed MMO again. When you aren't part of the main market base, it feels like they mess with you when they make changes and no amount of input, complaining, or whatever amounts to anything. Ragnarok is approved by Japanese. They even made anime, and bunch of spin-off games of it. Even French Bread (Melty Blood developer) made a doujin game of it, and its still one of the best doujin game ever made, imo.

That is absolutely true, I always find it funny (and maybe a bit upsetting) to see people go on forums for games like TERA or Aion and dozens/hundreds of threads discussing balance/game mechanics and what they would like done with them, and they seem to think the publisher has literally any control over the game

For any game like that, they are just going to mirror the original games changes (multiple months/a year later) and eat up the cash shop money

This isn't 100% true. They can make minor changes to games. Hell on Mabi, the Jap server tends to have more unique content than the Korean or English ones. Also they(Korea) let the American s make a couple items for the game once.

I played wow for some time, mainly because it looks like its the only mmorpg my pc can run without bleeding, but the thing I noticed is that it wasn't fun. I mean, the game itself, its boring. it combines the worst things of real time and turn based games. I looked at some other mmorpgs, but they look the same in that compartment.
why the hell people play these things? its better an online game coop or a text rpg, looking at the results.

I subscribed to WoW not so long ago too to see the new raid or whatever.

The entire game is pretty much dead now that you don't even have the desire to log in once a week to raid thanks to the raid finder burning you out of the content already.
The only reason I see for people playing at this point is just an excuse to talk to their internet friends at the cost of 15 a month.

GW2 had fantastic marketing and everyone was ready to hop on board when it was released. The issue with the game is that there hasn't been anything new added aside from a few world bosses and a dungeon called fractals. Every other content update was just temporary.

What anet did was abandon the gw1 fanbase for the casual crowd and then made the game impossible for casuals to play due to the fact you had to consistently pay attention to the living story in order to have any chance of playing the game. What they ended up with is a great game thats also a really shitty game because it has terrible writing and no content.

I was never "good", but there was a time where I was really strong in a private server in ragnarok as a priest, I was able to survive in the hardest zones at the time (biolab 3 and that cave with the dragons) by myself without problems. Then like two or more years later I was a really good priest in another private server that I would be the priest and the tank when partying.

I was a Field Marshall in WoW(PoM pyro). Classic WoW was the only MMO I was interested in. I stopped PvPing when arenas came out, because arenas compltely destroyed PvP.
