Please source. The fact that the game wasn't a top seller when it was in pre-order means nothing. The game had no pre-order discount so it actually makes sense people starting to buy it close to its release which is what happened ever since January 23 - http://forums.mangagamer.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=202&start=45#p7224

As for identity theft, if you manage to make a pre-paid credit card you can cancel it after you buy what you want. >I wonder if Coco route was cut from Ever17 and it was released exactly as-is but without it, and people eventually made some website explaining most (but not all) of the explanations for stuff they planned on doing based on the hints and foreshadowing throughout the earlier parts, if people would then consider it a complete game too and argue that was what the author intended all along.

There's one big problem with this analogy: Although the loose threads in Remember11's backstory are never explicitly resolved, the main plot (and, for that matter, the main mysteries (that is, the personality transfer phenomenon, newspaper, third personality, etc)) were all resolved; explanations were given and the characters got out of their predicament. Take away Coco route from Ever17, and you wouldn't get any of that.

Instead, it's more like if you took Coco route from Ever17, and reduced it to merely revealing the date twist and the characters being rescued by Blick Winkel, without explanation as to who is who/what the characters' relations are or who summoned Blick Winkel and how. The main plot is still there, it's just the background that is explicitly revealed in Ever17 but has to be inferred in Remember11.

You're full of shit. It was originally released on Super Famicom and there hasn't been a single version rated 18+.

It needs not mentioning, but DLC is never a possible way out since a) sold DLC is re-rated unless it's day 1 DLC which is included in the rating, and b) Apple doesn't allow porn of any kind and is incredibly anal about apps accessing content not regulated by Apple, so DLC can't get past Apple.

I want to play devil's advocate and say that people exaggerate it, especially on western channels like 4chan, actually. I read through it myself and while it is true that the prose is nothing to wonder at and it can be sluggish at times, it's also not the abyssal trainwreck people make it to be. Shimokura's critique plastered on the gimmick of the VN is certainly not the first one but the problem lied in that the characters were probably not too endearing and that his attempts at making you feel the emotions he wants you to feel are weakened because of it. Nevertheless I still had fun reading it and got Shimokura's point even though I might not agree with what he is trying to say, or the way he is trying to say it. I think that was one of the most divisive points actually, rather than his "style", in the Japanese community. To be honest I think people in the west elevate VNs too highly and thus end up being disappointed when they don't read actual novel material bound in cover and written in paper. It's probably the reasoning behind why Japanese taste seems to suck compared to western readers.

Certainly not the best Nitroplus has given out but I thought, for example, Axanael's falling action was even worse. There were also some cool characters like Exhibit A here. The topic could have been written leagues better but it certainly wasn't a snorefest.

Hm, I'd say more than liking being insulted it's the humor in the game that's not for everyone. Though if you have an issue with the protagonist being treated like shit by the heroines, Ikikoi isn't for you. I'm enjoying it so far.

I've barely seen any problems translation-wise, though I'm still early in the game. There are minor issues such as phrasing sometimes being slightly awkward, text not fitting the text box, some typos, but nothing major so far. It's perfectly readable.
