Cultural question.

In Japan...

is sukumizu issued by school free of charge and is individually tailored for unique fit

or

something that female students buy & pick off the shelves and just pick age + S/M/L size?

We could've had doujins.

It's subsidized by Otaku groups, but now they only accept cash since the uniforms that were donated by creepy 40 year old me came all sticky.

doesn't the central government in Tokyo take great care of funding public schools.
i'm sure all public schools (that aren't in low-populated backwoods) there get real good funds from Tokyo.

But in Toradora they showed the girls buy their swimsuits..

Have you been living under a rock for the past 20 years? The Japanese government can't even pay its debts. They don't have any money to fund clothing.

>is sukumizu issued by school free of charge and is individually tailored for unique fit
This makes no sense. If the school issued them, it would be because they could do it more efficiently by ordering in bulk.

Swimsuits are typically made in stretchy material, so they fit even if they're not designed for your exact proportions. And tailor making clothes for children at the exact age where they're most likely to have sudden growth spurts is a really fucking stupid idea.

Let's hope OP never gets put in charge of public budgeting.

>> No.11810500

Sukumizu is just short for school swimsuit. So any swimsuit that is designated for use in schools is a sukumizu.

But in the heart of otaku, the true meaning of sukumizu will always remain.

those "cool" male winter uniforms you always see yeah those cost about $200 ( just the coat alone actually )

So they either keep "dirty" uniforms the whole week or they have to wash it every 2 days. Damn that's retarded.

That's actually not that bad. The shirt and pants are pretty normal and you can have multiples. The jacket is a jacket, nobody washes coats that much. They probably have to be dry-cleaned anyway.

If I remember correctly, in middle school you are assigned swimming suits, but as soon as you go to high school you buy your own swim suit, but I hear the dress code is pretty strict.
