When was the last time you made a plot out of your hand-saved touhou pictures?

Come to think of it I actually haven't done that before.

How would you go about making one of these, there an easy program for it?

>> No.11770205

I'm going to make one eventually.

How do I plot them? Counting them by hand isn't exactly an option.

>> No.11771023

you seriously coutned them by date?

>> No.11771025

>>11771023
Pretty sure it's easy to sort them by date modified.

I have multiple hierarchies of folders.

Just now.

I want to go full autism on my Pictures folder, but I don't know any good software to do it with.

I thought about using the default Windows Explorer to tag files, but as I realised it puts the tags in the files themselves, that's not an option as it would be highly embarrassing to have Anonymous criticising my tags on the internet.

It's a bit of a pain. Even moreso if you have multiple folders. I just have all in two folders so it was a bit easier. (Except for full pixiv gallery downloads and doujins).

This is how I did it. I'm sure it's easier with Excel which has more functions to use than Libreoffice Calc, but I used the latter because that's what I had installed.

You can do "dir /tc /od > temp.txt" in command line in a folder to get a list of all files saved to a text file, then copy paste the entire "date created" column to your Calc program using something that lets you select a rectangular area. Notepad++ for instance, when holding Alt.

You can then use Libreoffice's "DATEVALUE" function to convert the dates into integers. The function is a bit buggy though and doesn't always accept the date format, especially if it has hidden control characters such as "\n".

You need another column of DATEVALUEs for each month, so you can after then use FREQUENCY-function to see how many of your pictures cumulatively appear since the start of your counting period for each month.

After that it's finally simple chart making. I used Photoshop, of course, to add Mokou and Keine having a fun time. And also the total count numbers were added there. There was no simple way to do it in Libreoffice.

Happy and tedious chart plotting!

PS. I should really tag all my th pictures as well, but it's such a pain.

If anyone wants to know what I did, or wants another explination

I went to my touhou folder and searched "*.*" to get all the pictures in the search. Then I copied them all out to a separate folder.

Then I ran the command "dir /TW /OD >> file.txt" on the new folder, and opened file.txt in Notepad++ and used the alt-select (Which I didn't know about) to select all the dates. I used /TW because copying them to a new folder listed their date created as today.

Then I copied all the dates into Excel, and after some playing I ended up wriring a small program in C to generate dates for the "bins" column from 2010 to 2013 like this:

1/1/10
1/15/10
1/30/10
2/1/10
2/15/10
2/30/10
...
12/1/13
12/15/13
12/30/13

Then for FREQUENCY I selected A:A for the dates input, and B1:10 for the bits. Then copying it down gave
=FREQUENCY(A:A,B0:B10)
=FREQUENCY(A:A,B2:B11)
...

And then created a graph!

By the way, original guy, you don't need to use DATEVALUE, at least on Excel. Dates, no matter what format, are internally stored as the integer value of 40000 something.

Yeah, I didn't have Excel though. OpenOffice/LibreOffice is a bit clumsy.

But drawing a graph like this was an interesting exercise.

>> No.11772236

A fully accurate graph would have a series of inclines broken up by sudden collapses where I deleted my folers for various moralistic normalfag reasons.

>> No.11772250

>>11772236
The data is only going by dates of images saved. So it would seem that the graphs are indeed inaccurate regarding total pictures over time because deletions aren't shown.

That amount of files would make it more interesting. There's no extra work for you, you just let your computer grind though the data.
