Are there any visual novels like Saya no Uta? Is ever 17 like it?

What do you mean like it?
Utsuge? Nakige? Lovecraft?

Lovecraft mostly but nakige too.

Start off with the rest of nitro+ stuff.
I also want to brush Kagerou's fur.

Demonbane is all about lovecraft. More lighthearted about it though.

I tried watching steins;gate and I absolutely hated it. Is the VN much better?

>>11743260
Thank you.

I read fate/stay night, tsukihime, clannad, kagetsu tohya, fate/hollow ataraxia and planeterium already and liked all of those.

Steins;gate is not really nitro+ style, they just participated in it. I'm talking more of kikokugai, hanachirasu and so on. I didn't really like s;g myself but I didn't see an anime.

Honestly, Okabe's chuuni shit is grating as hell, but underneath there's a pretty nice little conspiracy plot with a double helping of sad. The meme shit isnt nearly as unbearable in the vn, as you can skip a good bit of it at no detriment. But the vn itself leans more towards sad than creepy, if that's what you're looking for.

I'd try demonbane for lovecraftian.

If you want something atmospheric and a bit creepy, higurashi (shitty translation, so if you can read it raw all the better) or umineko 1-4 (the voices and ps3 sprites recently got finished) are pretty common vns to go for.

If it's tearjerkers, then I've heard nothing but good things about clannad, muv-luv, little busters,ever17.

If it's just whimsical, then forest was a fun, and interesting read. It references a lot of western children's stories, and feels very very otherworldy.

My personal problem with S;G that 90% of time it was focused on girls instead of plot. Not that it was bad, it's just I expected some interesting time travel conspiracies but all i got is just above average harem shit.

>If it's tearjerkers, then I've heard nothing but good things about... muv-luv
I could spare you a dozen of not-so-good.

Thank you for your help. I have seen the Higurashi anime (the first one) and liked it and have been thinking about reading the VN and Umineko. Do I need to read all of Higurashi before Umineko?

I post here a good bit but I am more into 2hu than vns so I thought I would ask.

You don't need to, as they're completely different stories, but it is recommended because there is somewhat of a spoiler for higurashi in umineko
