Kirin is alright. There is a Japanese market near me that always stocks all the major Japanese brand beer but I rarely go to it. Right now I have been drinking a lot of Founders All Day IPA which is really good.

I recommend the Hitachino Nest range. Some of the flavours are quite subtle, so not for plebs who like everything overly hopped and indigestion inducing.

Minoh and Baird make some good beers. Yebisu's Creamy Top Stout is immaculate, only seen it on draught in Japan.

I've actually tried Kobushi Hana Pilsner before. It's from the Kiyasse-Hanyu Hanyu Brewery, a local microbrewery from Saitama. The bar that was selling it, Ant-n-Bee located in Roppongi had a Foursquare special where if you checked in for the first time there, you get a free glass of beer.

I drank alcohol once and it tasted like bitter cough medicine. I drank some more, though, soon after because fitting in etc, but I had to force every sip down my throat without hurling. I stopped soon after, however, when I felt stabbing in my stomach like little knives trying to poke out of my belly. That was the only time I drank alchohol, and I'm still not sure how anyone can drink this poison in large quantities and enjoy it.

Over the past 15 years or so America has experienced an explosion of microbreweries. We actually had a very robust beer culture a long time ago, before it was completely destroyed by prohibition, and it is just beginning to return. Sure European macro brews taste slightly less of skunk than American but all the best beers in the world are brewed right here in the U S of A. Suck it Germany

I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I basically have access to every craft and hipster beer you can think off. One of the weirdest things is going into a bar and watching people trying to order Coors Light or Bud Light and the bartenders will be looking at them like they are aliens. Then they have to break down which pilsner tastes like what huge name brand.

You might like a lot of wheat beers if you enjoy Blue Moon.

You may want to try something like Sea Dog (blueberry), Shocktop (the original), or Abita's Purple Haze beer. These are all fairly wheaty, and tend to be enjoyable even to people who don't typically enjoy beer.

The best beer I have ever had was a Danish beer. I can't remember its name but it tasted better than most of what I had drunk in German and Belgium. Canadian beer is probably the best beer from outside of Europe.

For the most part Japanese beer is pretty average lager from what I've experienced, light and refreshing but nothing unique about it.

Your better off sticking to craft beer / microbrews or German / Czech beer.

Heifeweizen is my favorite style of brew, although my favorite all time beer is probably Pilsner Urquell.

Sierra Nevada, Goose Island and Anchor is everywhere, it's better than your average piss beer but I'm still not a fan.

Oskar Blues stuff is pretty easy to get hold of, even had some Dale's Pale Ale on draught.

Some of the Founders beers are pretty good. Seem to remember Odell IPA and Left Hand's Milk Stout being good.

I've seen Stone Brewery's beers on draught and in bottles a lot.

People legitimately enjoy alcohol. The reason it is consumed the world over isn't because everybody is trying to impress everybody else.

I used to dislike alcohol too, and to be honest, I still do aside from beer. There's nothing wrong with not liking it, and it is definitely a bit of an acquired taste, but if you have never tried craft beer, I recommend giving one or two a try before you write alcohol off entirely.

Japanese beer is very average. Beer in Saigon is usually better. Best Japanese beer imo is the Kirin.
Best beer worldwide is the Duvel.
