I want to learn Japanese, where do I start? I can already read Kana, but I'm really slow and it's pointless since I don't know what am I saying anyway.

start with some fundamentals like topology, algebra and calculus then you can go further with calculus and linear algebra and after that stuff like PDEs, numerics, stochastic or more abstract things in topology/geometry/algebra.

Buy or download a book on Japanese grammar
Study the whole of it
That's all folks

>> No.11724975

>>11724909
Go through Tae Kim's grammar guide: www.guidetojapanese.org

Don't bother learning any of the conjugation rules, though (better to get a feel for it through experience).

i would put that somewhere between in the further algebra or topology, it's definitely usefull but not so important if you don't go into more abstract stuff

tried for a year and then gave up because crossing that line and actually talking to natives is scary. not worth it at all.
I can understand stuff about mahjong pretty well, though.

you can't end a sentence in a preposition.

We are not speaking in Latin and you are not a Victorian headmaster.

A preposition is a perfectly fine word to end a sentence with.

with that narrow mindedness I'm almost 100% certain you're not an actual mathematics student

set theory was the building block, to disregard progress is very dumb of you

good luck with your philosophy studies, set-theory-guy
it was a root for some good thoughts in the past and to precise what a set should be and what not, but now in the present set theory is pretty much a dead subject
imagine an dusty skeleton raking a drought field - that's what set theory is today
