What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished? You know the drill.

>> No.11713931

In the previous thread someone said that burning a CD/DVD image to a physical disc would save the trouble of messing around with older games trying to get the CDDA audio to work. Well, I burned ジサツのため to a CD and the music still isn't playing. I'm getting sound effects just fine but there's no music, at all.

I can't get it to work with _inmm.dll either since I can't extract the soundtrack, nor find one with working links lying around online.

I've been wanting to play this for a while and it seems like there's no viable options left. Should I just play it without music enabled?

If it was actually by KeroQ you could count me as hyped, but since they're releasing in their phony company it probably isn't going to be that good.

About the other titles, there's la dea, the Ikusa Megami remake, Rance IX, new game by DI team, that should be the most anticipated titles, personally I like akatsuki black and hope Bradyon Veda and Hello Lady goes well, also I think Nitro+ will release two titles next year, so it's possible they got one huge hit too.

Finished Electro Arms - enjoyed it, just as much as I did with Zero Infinity -Devil of Maxwell-. I am not entirely sure whether the entire ZI team moved over to do EA, while plenty of similarity about, there are quite a few glaring difference: it has one less heroine and the climax is markedly different - Zero Infinity all ends with battle vs the same Bad Guys and progress up the same road (apart from Mishima's ending); while Electro Arms progress up but do not necessarily walk down the same road. The climaxes in EA are also more tamed and "fun", and the message of being fun are littered throughout, unlike the power-leveling of freedom vs guidance in Zero Infinity. Suppot characters - a mixed bag for both, even though EA has a small cast, they are no really any better in depth nor variety than ZI. The setting of EA, imo, is better than ZI though I think ZI can tell a better story, the best analog is EA is like a weekend trip while ZI is like a journey - you get more freedom for a weekend trip but you lock down and plan for a journey, in sense of story progression. Also I liked how they rationalized their technology in EA (quantum reality realization) and linked in some bits of real life news feeding into it. Personal scoring for EA is 8/10.

Dark Lord (It's Izumi Banaya and seems like he's directing it too so it should be good atleast for Banaya fans like me)
Senshinkan (New Masada)
Baldr Sky Zero 2 (It's Baldr, duh, and seriously need to know whats up with Marel)
Ikusa Megami Memoria (Finally more IM)
Reminiscence Re:Collect (I believe in Kinugasas ability to write endings!)
Sakura no Uta (Scaji hyping)
Hello Lady (new Hino)
Taiyou no Ko(笑)
Rance 9 (new Rance)

Then there is stuff like Angel Beats VN and Necomancer for some people. It's shaping up ot be nice year.

Waiting warmly for Nitroplus to redeem themselves with Necromancer for their anniversary. Also hoping that they've got something up their sleeve for Muramasa's.

Speaking of which, I was thinking of buying a copy of Muramasa's LE, and Amazon got quite a few of them. What troubles me is that an unopened copy costs 15 thousand yen, while an opened one costs 7 thousand. Does the game's virginity really cost this much? I don't think that has ever stopped people from asking for recommendations back in 2010 or in other boards, and that would involve actual, you know, effort.

There's also way too many things available to do a proper recommendation chart that isn't bloated to all hell, and things like moege and nukige are usually best left off to each individual person to do their own research since much of the appeal is highly subjective (that is, what kind of heroines you like and what fetishes you enjoy). I think it has to do with many VNs that have been brought here had minimal ero content (F/SN, Tsukihime), and some even had no at all (Ever17, Umineko, Higurashi, Narcissu). Most of the western people probably expect the ero to be in a small amount compared to the actual content. Or maybe they're insecure idiots who are afraid of saying they like playing porn games, and thus use VN. I've never used the word "visual novel" with japanese people, though. Novel
>A novel is a long prose narrative that describes fictional characters and events, usually in the form of a sequential story.

Visual novels do have choices, but the history has a limit to the changes, you can't get past a certain post and the prose will always deliver you to an end somehow. Now with dating sims, you're simulating, you aren't reading any scenario at all, but just 'simulating'. There's novel with dating sim elements, such as LxC where you chase the girl until they fall in love with you, but when they do, there's a script in which the history will go, so that's the difference, there isn't any novel in dating sims to be considered a visual novel.

There was no major damage, but I spent the last one and a half hours with getting the keyboard to work again properly (every time I pressed the right shift it would also think I pressed enter and the left shift also doubled as backspace), namely by taking the fucker apart, including the sealed keyboard unit, and drying/cleaning it until it started working properly under the threat of various flavors of immolation.

I feel like we've had this discussion a dozen times before. I'm not really up to explaining how the writing feels like reading a dictionary. If you don't notice it just regard it as a matter of taste, I guess. My problem, as >>11721276 mentioned, is that the vast majority of people reading Totono, or eroge in general probably don't treat the heroines like obstacles to be cleared. The average moege does a better job of making the player feel guilty about "cheating" on their girl of choice, and it does so by making them likeable, not by hard locking the player into that character. I don't imagine it's common for most eroge players to 100% a moege because they feel they have to. They're going to play the routes they want to because they want to spend more time with the characters. Barring bullshit enforced route orders or something, but that's the devs fault, not the players. Maybe they play all the routes, maybe they only play one. You're not going to convince the people that feel compelled to complete something just for the sake of completing it, because those people don't care.

It's just like somewhere amongst the preachy moral they forgot to insert some good (female) characters. It's not like it's the worst thing ever written. It had some fun parts and I'm not even sure I'd call it bad, but just about everything else does what Totono seems to be so dead set on doing better than Totono, and it does it without trying. Also with better writing.

I always thought the routes were pretty bad to be honest. I did three routes and ended up dropping it after finishing Amane's route, since I found it boring but had heard it was one of the best ones.

It seemed to me that even the English crowd liked Grisaia quite a bit though. But I only go to /a/ and /jp/, so I don't know what the threads in /vg/ are like.

>> No.11721388

The odd thing is that with EOPs, games come either in the best thing ever or absolute shit variety. There's no middle ground for some reason.

I didn't particularly like Grisaia, but calling it shit is ridiculous.

I don't understand Majikoi. It's immensely popular both in Japan and among EOPs for some reason, but I can't for the life of me figure out what's so special about it. To me it seemed like a run-of-the-mill charage with mediocre art and some poorly-written fight scenes thrown in. Am I missing something?

Fair enough. I realize humor is extremely subjective. I also agree that the friendship aspect was a strong point of the game. It just seems odd that that game got as popular as it did when your regular flavor-of-the-month releases frequently match or surpass it in my opinion. But whatever.
