Well, the Marcel Theroux guy who was trying to learn about wabi-sabi was basically a ばか外人 and it hurt to watch the things he did/said at times.
He goes into a maid cafe at one point, and I lost my shit.

This style of aesthetic appreciation appears in the Muromachi culture and is in strong contrast to the Heian culture of beauty. It reflects "the pathos of things" as an "old, decrepid, withered" nature. It was reflected in Tea Ceremony by very simplistic "Shoin" or Tea Room which was as barren and simply decorated as possible to establish an air of equality and finding beauty in even the smallest aspects of the tea-kettle, tea bag, wall-scroll in the center, boiling sound of the water, whatever, no matter who entered, aristocracy or peasants.

This was an aesthetic at the time. I'm surprised at you! Learn about it sometime, /jp/.

Gaijin(foreigner)is so arrogant.

You foreigners can work at Japan, study and play.
but it's not your rights.
this is japan,our country.
not yours.
you are not a member of our society.

It's special special favor from us.
Please dont misunderstand it.
All foreigners must think about the importance of showing respect & gratitude for japan.
Surprisingly many foreigners have a mistaken sense of superiority that can push japanese people.
because we Japanese spoilt the foreigner too much.
we'll be only scoffed at by them.
Now,we need to say clearly to silly foreigners.
Remember your place!
BAKA GAIJIN!
thankyou

"Wabi

Wabi means things that are fresh and simple. It denotes simplicity and quietude, and also incorporates rustic beauty. It includes both that which is made by nature, and that which is made by man. It also can mean an accidental or happenstance element (or perhaps even a small flaw) which gives elegance and uniqueness to the whole, such as the pattern made by a flowing glaze on a ceramic object.

Sabi

Sabi means things whose beauty stems from age. It refers to the patina of age, and the concept that changes due to use may make an object more beautiful and valuable. This also incorporates an appreciation of the cycles of life, as well as careful, artful mending of damage. "

Is this correct?

Yes, I into this. Unfortunately I could not by the Oni Wabi-Sabi vase I found at an auction, because I still had to pay for parking. I did buy a small carved stone mini vase that I bought. Maybe they will have it next year for sale in the annual sale.

I went to a local auction where they had Japanese antiques to bid on.. There was a Wabi Sabi gallery there. One in particular caught my eye and it was one painted with a Oni on the front. The whole Japanese antique gallery is one of the slowest sold auction, so much of it was extremely cheap.

Icame there to buy Wabi Sabi, but had a shortage of money.
