You can't change stock lives in SA as far as i know.

SA Extra seems pretty hard, I can barely get past the first spell and I did Phantasm/Extra in the other games.
Probably because of the new life system that doesn't give you a buffer at the start like every other Extra so far did.

I'd advise you to keep trying normal.
