I only have one daki, a peachskin version of the official design. I've seen another one but it's fan designed and rather lewd. But because it has her on it I can't help but feel I should have it, for her sake. But the lewd /jp/, I don't want to lewdify her!

taobao is like a chinese ebay and the goods are usually of a high quality + very cheap.

first you're going to need to find the item you want. go to taobao.com and type in 动漫等身抱枕 (pretty sure this is one of the terms for dakimakura) + the kanji for the series or character that you want.

look for a seller that has a good rating (MULTIPLE diamonds or crowns, in that order, you can also see the exact amount of feedback they have)

most daki covers are pretty cheap, in the realm of ~30-35 usd for 2WT (peachskin is even cheaper) and there are also additional options like japanese textile and velvet. (continued)

a lot of sellers on taobao reuse the same photos for daki cover listings; the most common one you'll probably find is from Shamoe (which doesn't even seem to sell dakimakura anymore, just anime branded apparel and small electronics)

daki shipping is pretty cheap and fast if you live in the United States, even DHL is cheap enough if you want to spend an extra 10 bucks or so. airmail took around 7 days flat for me, and was the cheapest option

pillow stuffing can be bought at the same time from the same seller for not a big markup, but I can't vouch for the quality nor the price of international shipping since they can bulky

that's really all I have to write about taobao for now, only used them once so far. hopefully you found this to be useful, if anyone else has ever bought their daki from taobao, feel free to post about it. maybe one day I'll put together a proper pastebin with links to all the big sellers on taobao so people don't have to sort through thousands of listings.

Man, Taobao is a pain to use. It's hard to find whatever I want since there's so many different sellers listing things in either English, Japanese, or Chinese; and it doesn't help that they often misspell for the former two and use tons of variations for names (e.g. nicknames, full-names, or names like Series + First name) so often.

yeah, I know what you mean. I had to try quite a few variations before I found the search term that brought up what I wanted.
You could also try a few generic searches for pillow covers to find the most reputable sellers, and then look in their store.
With any luck, they'll have their dakis categorized by series. In the worst case, you'll be clicking through 10-20 pages of listings looking at each thumbnail, which can be pretty time-consuming in my experience.

top quality: A&J's　セベリスライクラ(7900JPY), P80's ウレぷに(9450JPY)

The main difference is that the セベリスライクラ has a more solid structure, and offers some resistance but since the structure is complicated it can be damaged, while the ウレぷに can be messed with as much as you can, it doesn't offer that hug feeling like the A&J's because it has much less resistance; in fact you can put both your hands on each side of the ウレぷに and compress it so your hands touch. Such a thing isn't possible with the one from A&J (also it probably would damage its structure).

People tend to say that the limit of the one from A&J is resting your head or arm on it and anything more will caust indentation over time. Of course humping it is out of question.

And if you don't have a daki already, let me tell you this: yes, you will hump it, even if you don't intend to right now; you're just being naive if you think otherwise.
Which is why I went for the ウレぷに, but it's true that I'd like something that offers more hug resistance.

They don't fill the daki properly, so it's all baggy, and the material inside isn't premium composite shite, it's just some polymer moss or shit.
If you don't want to go all out on top quality inner pillow you can go for the cospa ones.

I bought my first daki about two months ago. I've slept with it every single night except for a few nights I've spent visiting a friend across the state. I absolutely love my daki and it definitely helps me to get better sleep. The only problem is it's almost too comfortable. I never want to get out of bed in the morning, because I don't want to stop hugging my daki. I've even skipped classes because I'd rather hug her and lay in bed than go to class.

You're better off getting it in conjunction with a variety of other stuff, which is what I did. It justifies shipping better this way. I had a friend in Japan ship me the DHR4000, a cover, some doujins and a poster. Shipping was about 10,500 yen, the daki itself was about 8,500 including domestic shipping.
