Do you think you could print anime figures on one of those 3D printers?

Certainly not with printers cheaper than $10,000.

Obviously, but printing anime figures would be the last thing on my mind if I had one. Touhous and Vocaloids go first.

I wonder if humanity will ever master antimatter production for true near-lightspeed space flight.

People think of flight to neighboring stars as impossible for a living human because of the colossal flight time, but if you can accelerate a spacecraft to near-light speed (which is possible with the explosive properties of antimatter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Valkyrie)), relativity means that for everyone aboard, the journal would take much less time for everyone inside the craft as you neared 100% of light speed. If you were to travel at light speed the journey would be literally instant - as in, as soon as you reached light speed, to anyone inside the craft it would appear to instantly teleport to the time and place at which the craft decelerated from that speed, although from the perspective of everyone outside the craft, the craft would appear to travel at light speed normally.

Also we need matter with negative mass so we can make wormholes, but that probably will never happen.

Some are more advanced than that.
There's one that has a container of liquid plastic that has a laser shoot into it to harden the plastic. But this is also done by layer, so it looks like the machine is literally pulling the figure/whatever out of the liquid.

Good luck getting any new material cheaply.
They're NEW material, there's no production line yet, the chinks haven't reverse-engineered it and amerifat too busy puting 50 patents on every single carbon atom it has then suing each other instead of actually manufacturing it.

Not to mention that it takes several years to build a factory to mass produce it, and in the meantime of the factory being built, if a new, better and cheaper process is found, your whole investment goes to nothing and the only sensible decision is to stop construction ASAP.

My scholl broght one in for about two months and atudents could go print stuff off for free, but I had no 3D scans to use in printing off a maiku hama, yukio Mishima, or waifu figures. I had no idea where to look either. We had a 3D print thread during the time, but the OP printed a weird little girl figure that wasn't nice looking really. I want something cool to print off. Couldn't pront a gun, since any printer that does that needs a certain registration.
