Hence the uniform perception of good art. In a Western society, it's obvious you'd find a Western piece more appealing if you're an actual Westerner.

Also, Quality of art does not equate to looking good. Saying that is incredibly ignorant. If that were true, than many other undeserving artists would be put on the same level of masters such as Hayez or Goya. But in reality, many of them aren't recognized for their work, because they haven't contributed anything of lasting worth to art.

People on Pixiv generally call out on bad drawings if they find one. That's enough to make the artist feel ashamed of his art and try to improve so he can upload better art.

Now, western art as you mention (see some tumblr red nose shit for example)is usually bad because people don't call eachother out on bad drawings because online art communities are just hugboxes. And even worse, most artists use the "MUH ARTSTYLE" scapegoat when they get the least bit of criticism. See pic related. If someone calls the artist in question on the noses in this picture (which interestingly covers up most of the face because the artist possibly can't draw facial features well) he'll just reply - "oh dude that's just my artstyle the noses are supposed to be huge actually"

Interestingly, same shit happens on nowadays's society. X person looks bad on a picture? Say, the ducklip thing grills do and take photos of.
