/jp/, I have two (2) questions:

1. Are visual novels games?
2. Can eroge be considered art?

Thank you for your time.

Yes, they're games.

Yes, it is art.

OP, I have (2) questions:

1. Are you gay?
2. If so, want to snuggle?

Thank you for your time.

1. Yes they are games, there is an objective
2. No they are not art, no game is because you involve your own narrative. Art is only the artist's narrative, anything more is a toy/game/tool. However there is art IN and IN MAKING the game.

1. No, they are visual novels.
2. No, Japanese media cannot be considered art because Japanese people are subhuman.

1. They are not games, they are books with multiple endings.

2. Whatever

What? Much abstract art involves the viewer constructing the meaning and narrative behind a work. Postmodern views purport that everything and nothing is art and that the artist has little to do with it other than to create, with the meaning or significance of the work being out of their hands, often to be constructed by dominant parties.

I guess doing equations or filling out spreadsheets also count as games.

1. Only if they contain some gameplay.
2. Yes.

Yes, they are, even though a lot of people who don't play normal games would like to say they aren't, myself included.

I think they have artistic value, but I don't know if I could say whether or not they're 'art'

The better question is who the fuck cares.

>> No.11608373

1. Yes, if said novels offer interaction, i.e. allow player to influence the story. I wouldn't count kinetic novels.
2. Yes, eroge can be a work of artistic value.
