yes secondaries are bothered by the “bad” art so much that they have to patch it out of the game. they can't just enjoy what the game is even when 99% of it is the gameplay. it hardly matters because patch users will soon quit and go back to upvoting fan art.

But it's not patching out the bad art. All of ZUN's hand-drawn creations are still there. The basic retexture patch just puts in higher-resolution character models and stage backgrounds as well as using enemy sprites from the newer games, and the full patch changes the menu and sidebar to look more like MoF and beyond.
