Few years. DJT on /a/ has some good advice but the best parts are all more or less taken directly from antimoon and AJATT

Can anyone please tell me the reading difficulty of this? Is it intermediate or advanced? I'm just beginning so most Japanese is equally confusing to me right now and so I'm not sure what the level of difficulty is.

It's my greatest dream to be able to one day play Yakuza 5. I imported it and I have the box taped to the side of my monitor so that I will be forced to stare at it every moment of the day and keep doing my best so that I can rejoin Akiyama and the other characters that I love so much in another fun filled adventure.

I wish that I knew the difficulty of it though, so I know whether it's going to take me a few months to be able to start playing this or a few years.

If you can read manga and light novels you can handle that. The subtitles should make it easier to understand. Don't know whether to call it advanced or intermediate, depends on what you mean by those terms.

Also I want to add that you really shouldn't be afraid of playing/reading/watching something before you're "good enough" or you'll "ruin it". The first time you go through doesn't have to be the last. Doing the things you want to do the most is what will keep you motivated and wanting to learn, and motivations is literally THE most important thing here.

Is it important to practice stroke order to retain kanji? I'm about 800 words into a vocab deck and a lot of these characters are starting to blur together in my mind.

It's embarrassing to admit, but I've stayed inside for such a long time that I forgot how to use pencils and other writing instruments that aren't keyboards. I try to hold the pencil but my fingers hurt after a few seconds or the pencil slips out of my hand while I'm writing.

Write every kanji 50 times. If you don't, you'll never be able to learn any vocabulary.

>> No.11455421

>>11455409
I can't say if it's important or not because I always practiced writing them from the start. It probably does help you remember though, if for no other reason than because you'll find yourself writing them all over anything you have at hand when you're bored.

It is also useful to know because it will allow you to easily look up kanji you know no readings for using your IME's draw pad, which relies quite heavily on stroke order to determine the kanji you are attempting to input. And anyway, it's not actually that hard to learn to write. Kanji stroke order might seem difficult to learn at first but it's actually quite consistent and you will be able to understand new kanji's stroke order instinctively (with some exceptions) after learning it for a couple hundred.
