I can't get them to work either. I always just end up with a headache from trying too hard to cross my eyes.

They definitely work, either you have some kind of brain disorder or you're doing it wrong.

Try crossing your eyes and staring past the image, slowly bring your eyes back into focus and you should see a third image in the middle which is 3D.

here's another good one. it works you just need to cross your eyes till the images overlap then let the image settle so it becomes clear and gives the effect of being 3 dimensional.

too much work

Just hold up a finger or some other object you can focus your eyes on and move it back and forth until you get the images to overlap in the middle behind it.

It only makes the pubic hair twinkle since it's the only difference between the two images. No 3D, no depth.

This thread made me discover a nice thing, if you put your hands in front of your face you get rid of the 2 other images and see only the central, 3D one.

Just change your focus. You can get a feel for it by following your finger as it approaches your face, forcing yourself to keep focus on it as it comes too close.

look at the image, now put your index finger near your eyes and on top of the image, and focus your eyes on the finger. keep your eyes like that, and now move the finger away. you should be cross eyed and able to adjust your eyes to the image, making it 3D.

I can never cross my eyes enough for these to work. Will they work with the Oculus Rift?

It works. I am kind of bad at it myself, I am no fan of doing it, and I am rarely able to do it for any notable length of time (I am talking seconds, upon viewing the image).

I believe a minute or two is my record.
Anyway. If you try to cross your eyes you should notice how the images to the left and the right kind of dislodge themselves from their relative position before. That much anyone who can cross their eyes should be able to do.

But here comes the tricky part. For this kind of crap to work, just crossing your eyes isn't enough.
You won't be able to get any decent focus to speak of until you can overlap the two images over eachother, forming one image. Which is what I am guessing >>11358015 meant with the "third image in the middle", disregarding how ambiguous that explanation might have been.

Anyway, if you manage to overlap the two "dislodged" images well enough, the sight from your two eyes won't interfere with eachother and you should be able to gain better focus.
Once you have better focus, the 3D-depth perception inherent to people having two eyes, should do trick. Granted you manage to retain the focus.

It's not really all that spectacular though, but I guess it can be an intriguing trick.
