While Marisa is the best character, this guys has a point. If you're having trouble beating the game with Marisa, try beating it with Reimu first. Her homing attack and smaller hitbox makes things much easier.

yeah this. I read all the strategy stuff I could find at first and read the improvement threads on here. I got good with Sakuya on PCB and then switched up to Marisa. If you are good with Reimu you will like the challenge of Marisa and frankly her speed and power open doors to different play styles.

I always play first as Marisa
Th10 Play as Marisa B for exploit, or Marisa C for consistent damage and mobility.
Th 11 Play as Marisa A if you can fight unfocused, Otherwise just use Reimu A
Th 12 Play as Marisa A, Marisa B is completely underpowered.
Th 13 Marisa is best shot, just keep focused and shot the big enemies the second you see them
Th 14 I'm having better results with Marisa A, especially since she has Dark Spark and You'll need a good bomb in this game. Reimu B is once again the best shot since PCB/EoSD

You started on the earlier games so you're used to having more lives and bombs, thus more room to screw up. Get good at dodging bullets and gaining lives.

I really hate using Marisa B in TH10 because of it's broken nature.
It's a shame, since I've always preferred using Marisa's piercing shots.

Play through Shoot the Bullet until you beat some of the Extra cards. Your dodging ability will definitely improve.

For MoF/SA it's not just that. The bombing system takes getting used to. Once you adjust to it, MoF will be trivially easy and SA will be easier than UFO.

So that's that for the two main characters, but what about the other mains (Sakuya, Sanae, Youmu...)? How easy/hard are they usually considered compared to Reimu and Marisa?

MarisaB's bomb in TH14 has crazy levels of OP, if you can time and place it correctly. Not to mention the DPS when focused.
