Hey, anyone know of some good programs I can download to teach myself Japanese?

My iTouch is out of date and can't do anything, though.

Any Windows 7 (or earlier) apps would be great. Especially want some stuff to learn words and Kanji.

Welcome, new user to /jp/ - Japan/General! Hah, just kidding, this isn't Japan/General. This is Touhou/Visual Novels/Doujin Games.

If you want to discuss the different places you can visit in Japan, I suggest you go to /trv/ (though they also seem to hate Japan there, so don't annoy them too much). If you want to discuss the Japanese language, go to /lang/ (yes, 4chan has text boards!). If you want to discuss anime and manga, go to /a/ (some series that are based on light novels/VNs/games like Marimite and Higurashi can also be discussed in /jp/, it really depends, so lurk a bit to see what's acceptable). Finally, if you want to talk about Japanese history and culture, go somewhere else, nobody here knows or cares for that stuff.

/jp/ was created as a board to get rid of Touhou and visual novels from /a/, it was never intended to be a board about Japanese culture. Most of the users here don't care about Japan, we only care about lolis and doujin games.

I can't be bothered to grab a link right now, sorry, but there's a daily Japanese thread that goes on in /a/. You'll find info about Anki, a popular flashcard program and other stuff there.

I personally use Slime Forest Adventure for kanji, but you can learn katakana and hiragana with it as well - a lot of people don't like it, but consider giving it a look.

Adobe reader is a pretty good program. It can run a bunch of different files called .pdf, which are like books on the computer. There's tons of .pdf files that are for learning japanese.

I'm so glad I found this program. It's pretty much the best for learning japanese.

My jay pee has tons of language threads, especially on aids for learning. My jay pee has discussions of places to go in akiba or shinjuku...good maid cafe's, good medical theme bars, good places to buy used pantsu. Fuck, my jay pee welcomes shodo threads.

If you don't like general threads, then ignore them and stick to the 2hou whatever....

The problem is that Apple never fucking made a product under that name. All it shows in context is that you're too lazy to say iPod Touch. This trend HAD been winding down due to more people getting iPhones and using them instead and getting rid of their iPods, in fact I didn't think I'd ever see that term used again... then it happened here.
