Sup /jp/ I'm at my wits end. I know some of you girls play this game, I'm just wondering how I am suppose to kill this bitch.

I just do not understand why they made her run away at 7.5k HP. If I could just get one crit off of master spark I might be able to defeat her but its just not happening. Anybody got some advise for me?

Off the top of my head the best advice I can give is to try and keep Yuuka's power as low as you can. Best case is to keep it below 130 so her passive doesn't activate, but that's not easy to do.

The thing is that none of my attacks are strong enough to kill her. Master Spark might be able to pull it off but once you use it Yuuka uses drive. Even if I don't let her power up to 130 it won't let me crit her.

It's been awhile, but let me see what I can recall.

The way I beat her was using Marisa and Alice's combo attack. That attack can deal enough to finish Yuuka off.
Before that you have to get her down as close to her escape limit as you can. For this you need to use the strongest attacks you can to reduce the amount of power you give her.
Also, I believe you can get one free Master Spark if it's the very first attack Marisa uses on Yuuka. She won't use drive when she has her opening speech with Marisa.

Well you get the combo attack in a later level so I'm going to assume you mean a straight up support attack. I gave Reimu the support attack given that I can use the Youkai buster to balance it out.

Are you saying the more power Yuuka has the less damage I do?

I've gotten Master spark to crit on Yuuka before. Does this mean you had the Shanghai beam crit? And you can pull off two master sparks on Yuuka before she'll counter attack and use drive.

Oh, I should clarify. I don't mean Marisa and Alice's specific combo attack. I had Alice with attack support. I lead with Master Spark and Alice follows up with her long range laser attack.

Did any attack crit? Did you power up Marisa's attacks at all by using points? Did you use her Danmaku power at level 1 or 2?

Now that I think about it, I think Alice's attack did crit on occasion. Maybe MS did crit at one point, like I said it's been awhile.

And yeah, I was playing Marisa's path and was powering her up all game pretty much with the intention of blowing up Yuuka. That means a couple levels into attacks and level 2 Danmaku.

For Reimu's path, I've toyed with the idea of using her close range spell card with Keine's headbutt attack. Seems like that would work, but I haven't bothered to get that far yet to see it through.

Yeah, you pretty much have to plan from the beginning to take down Yuuka. Even then I'll admit I had to restart the battle a few times and quick load the final attack until everything fell into place.

Haven't played it myself yet, I from what I've read, yes. Just about everything gets carried over. I think waifu points are the exception since they revamped that system in the sequel.

Oh and something else that I remember now, something of an anecdote. During the Alice fight on Marisa's path, there's a choice you can make. There's not really an explicit sign this happens, but if you talk Alice down instead of shooting her down, her and Marisa gain a 10% trust bonus to hit and evade when next to each other. Somewhat relevant, since doing this means you have to give up the Tengu Fan item, and that kind of sucks.

Don't worry, I always get the friendship bonus on Alice. Alice and Reimu's friendship bonus both stack on Marisa so it works out.

Also do you think is possible to defeat Yuuka on lunatic without power leveling? Also did you power level via game over farming when you fought Yuuka and did you do it on Normal?

No game over leveling. I was OCD about getting everything I could, meaning no game farming and shooting down optional targets, Sanae, Yuuka, etc.

As for difficulty, I was playing on normal. Defeating Yuuka on Lunatic though? Maybe. You'd really have to plan every step though. As I recall, higher difficulties reduce the amount of rewards you get from enemies, but there's also more units overall, so it might even out. Even with good planning, I imagine it would take a lot of RNG luck to shoot Yuuka down.

I don't know, I kind of like it. Her entrance and dialogs are some of my favorites. Just the complete overpowering feeling she exudes. Even when you've used your team's single most powerful attack, she turns around a blows you away with a far more powerful one. You're not even supposed to be able to shoot her down, but that very fact that you can is neat.

Really, this has to be one of my favorite Touhou fangames. Just all the love that seems to have gone into it makes my day.

I know that feeling. Though for me, I just liked shooting Yuuka down, the sunflower was just a bonus. Kind of disappointing though, since it doesn't restore SP like its description implies. Still useful on people who can blow through MP though, like Marisa.
