Moogy's response to the Air translation issue (read bottom to top).

Not sure what to think. Enter the Wired's scripts were unsalvageable as far as I know, but Moogy generally knows what he's talking about. Then again, he could just not be giving a fuck and reasoning that peasants will eat shit anyways so they won't notice anyways.

The translator's response to machine TL allegiations:

>Yes…Alot of people seem to be saying that were using machine translations. Let me assure you…Were not…While we are working off an project that did have some Machine translations. Those scripts in question were scrapped and redone by hand. Were calling this a beta patch cause were not done editing the existing scripts but as it is right now. The existing scripts are readable and if you want to check our quality just play the game yourself and see.

>You, my good sir. Are and idiot. Where in the hell do people keep getting this rumor that were using machine translations? Where is this? This info is false. Everything we have done has been done by hand and the existing scripts that were done by machine were scrapped and done from scratch. But you free to not use our version. We really dont care. We did this for ourselves.

His bad English doesn't really instill much hope for me.

Ixrec basically replaces one word in japanese by the "equivalent" in english directly. There is one line he particular he got wrong but otherwise it's just a really really litteral translation, of course no respectable translator should do that.

And for Moogy what he did is a rewrite, yes a translation in itself is a rewrite but I think he went too far there, the "feeling" of the text is too different even if the broad meaning is the same.

>こんなにも胸を揺さぶられる。
>But this just shakes up my heart so much.
To translate it as
>――Why, then, do I find my heart quivering faintly as I witness Benio's foolish efforts?
changes many things about the sentence. It was not a question initially; he's not philosophically wondering about what causes him to be shaken by the events taking place, but rather he's just stating that the feeling he gets from all this really sucks. There's no indication that the reason for this is "Benio's foolish efforts"; it might as well be the realization of the tragic truth that hurts him, or anything else about this situation. His heart is also not quivering 'faintly', regardless of how poetic that may sound. While the explicit 'so much' is also a bit over the top, 揺さぶられる implies a significant shaking.

But more than any of the actual errors in the translation, the tone just doesn't match. At all. It was a simple statement, and he turned it into fucking poetry. If the protagonist was a poet, the author would've written it more eloquently. But he's a normal guy, so he doesn't describe things as 'quivering faintly' and 'foolish efforts'. I'd say that's even more of a problem than getting parts of the sentence wrong, since the whole feeling the writing evokes (you know, the whole point of storytelling) changes completely.

I was keeping them at first, but after watching the finished work it felt awkward. I tried ignoring them on the remaining pages and everything flowed more naturally.

The baseline is, if he is stubbornly keeping them, he either still doesn't get the hang of translating, even after all those releases; or he doesn't grasp the languages well enough to manipulate the sentences and make them flow naturally.
