It's a fact. Japan imported their high culture from China. Nobody really argues about it.
What people forget is said Chinese culture has died out in China, being first overrun by barbarians, forced into submission by the British empire, outlawed by the old Communist regime and finally turned into a tourist attraction by the current Communist regime.
Genuine "Chinese" culture now only exists as transmuted into Japanese culture.

Racist or not, that is what history has to say about Japan. They don't invent a lot of stuff of their own, but anything you can do they can do better.
