I like the Yuuka that's so old she's a bit detached from reality, and considers everything she does a bit of light teasing, but has a really, really morbid sense of humor. I also like to think that she's mostly safe so long as you treat her and her flowers with respect and she's in a good mood. As an aside, I wonder what the nature of her strength is?

She's said to be one of the strongest youkai, but is it due to her mastery of flowers? Her age? Physical strength? What? In what way is she strong? It's almost frustratingly nonspecific.

I also like to blend her PC-98 canon with her Windows canon, but it seeems like a good many people do that anyways.

From few posts that I saw in the archieve I think It was started when someone spammed /jp/ with his comics.
/jp/ thought his comics were very offensive because of the artstyle and the jokes and people started to flame him.

It's just that he used western standards for his artwork and comics which you know 4chan always despise. Actually I didn't get some of his jokes, either.

But what I've seen about him now is that he's much improved. Though he still use western standard and still tend to use adventure-time-ish style but some of his serious drawings are good.
He's less prone to make those rude jokes now compared to what you saw on his deviantart. He mostly only draw fanarts and actually put some characteristics/personality in his 2hus rather than just random "ghetto#swag#asshole" and even trying to make it close to canon material, but still unique in its own way. Some of his depiction of characters that I'd like to point out are at least better than the usual dull characters, and said characters are from rather unpopular game like UFO and TD, which he has been fond long before /jp/ start to like them after HM release.

Though, /jp/ might still got offended by his current drawings and jokes because like I said, he still use western standard, there are still shit scribbles with disgusting jokes and even ponies.

but now he's doing those for himself and even try to hid himself from the internet. So don't bother about him, though I still want to know about the "drama"

Somehow I think about something that's not over the top, like she was used to be a youkai villager or something.
As much as I wish Meiling to be very powerful, I think being not over the top more suit her with her status as stage 3 boss.

Theres a couple of random ideas I had for her because I like to think about gensokyo before I fall asleep.

1: She was an offering from an emporer, to appease the vampire and get her to stop attacking their city before their arrival in gensokyo.

2: Wandering chi healer, manipulated by fate, to discover the SDM. Employed long term to watch Patchouli and ended up just being the gate guard since there wasn't much else to do.

Not having any idea what kind of youkai she actually is hampers that quite a bit.

She doesn't seem to have any inherent powers, they're all things she would've had to learn from someone else.

Nope, PMiSS says no one ever saw her before the SDM moved to Gensokyo, so she most likely showed up along with the others.

That's kindof a fuzzy question. The SDM arrived sometime before 1998, but there's no solid evidence as to when it actually arrived.

I would like to make my own backstory of SDM that I have in mind but it contradicts by some canon fact like how she brought SDM from outside world, possibly along with the crew and it was not too long ago.

Something like, Patchy was actually the original owner of SDM, Meiling was just a youkai in the village who learned kung-fu from a scroll and save people until some occurance after her encounter with Remilia, cause her identity as a youkai to be revealed and shunned and decided to serve Remilia, Koa was Remi's first servant, and Sakuya is like what I said before.
