I'd like to play AC:NL in Japanese - apparently the Kanji's fairly basic and it'd be a good way of supplementing learning. Does anyone know if the EU version supports changing the language to Japanese? I guess the JP version is region locked and I don't want to buy a Japanese 3DS when I already have an EU one.

Don't bother. I bought Animal Crossing( I already have a 3DS) thinking that I would find pals to hang out with in the game. In all the time I've been playing, no one approached me and there are few players out there that I can sympathize with.
I like the game but it's another reminder that I'm not going to fit in with other group of people who can easily relax in social situations.
