Find an image you like on booru > saucenao it > if it's on pixiv, go to its page > click on all of its tags > check what kind of results there are for each tag > if there's a tag that seems to yield results you like, bookmark it and title it as whatever you believe it to be, use google translate for hints > repeat the process

Honestly, just go to the wiki page of whatever you want to see and search for the Japanese. That's what I did back before when pixiv was brand new and I didn't know any Japanese. The English page even has the Japanese on it so you don't have to read the Japanese version.

It's really not difficult in the slightest. The problem is that the pixiv community is fairly below mediocre when it comes to tagging correctly.

If you're talking about the pixiv encyclopedia, the english version has a whole lot less pages than the Japanese version. The english version is only useful for finding some of the most obvious tags. As you said, the tagging is pretty mediocre, and because of this it is not uncommon for there to be a dozen tags for the same exact thing. Using the english encyclopedia, you would usually only get the most common tag for something, but the Japanese version includes sub pages of many of the variations.

I did the math to see. Each Gelbooru is 7 x 9 meaning here are 63 images per full page. There are 12 pages. 753 for 12 full pages. The last page has 43, so 733 images. Still 42 more than Sankaku. That's 247 images deleted. Even with that, Gelbooru still have more images for the tag.

Gelbooru has a great premise and all but it's so badly implemented. Half of the stuff exclusive to Gelbooru lacks a source link (Which is a shame since most of those images CAN be sourced), artist_request is all too common a tag, and the rate of consistency is next to zero.

Danbooru may not allow you to see loli porn, but I barely seem to come across that limit to begin with, and since source is provided 99% of the time, I can download it straight from the tap anyway. Tagging is a pain though.

IMO the best site to look up Booru stuff is Pixiv. All of their content is original and even the most vague understanding of Japanese is sufficient if you have a translator (I use Google Chrome, so page translation is a piece of cake, and I can run phrases through Google Translate or Search to make better sense of them). Pixiv Premium isn't necessary at all and it doesn't filter your searches unless you tell it to.

Because Firefox has a horrendous memory leak, Opera had its own malware issues, and Internet Explorer is admant you use Bing to translate pages, which doesn't work with sites that don't allow proxies.

If you can solve any of those issues however, I'd be happy to work with you. Google Chrome itself is lately suffering from memory issues, and I've been looking for an alternative.

Not the guy you were replying to but I still have those issues. I just installed an extension that lets me restart it quickly. Ever since I moved to Aurora I haven't had any issues but that was like yesterday so I should give it some time.

Anyway, Pixv+Danbooru for official art is the best solution. Only thing that bothers me is Danbooru Downloader not working anymore.
