Was art like this considered "good" back in 2001?

>> No.1112024

Is it considered "bad" now?

>> No.1112023

Kanon was released in 1999, and Air in 2000. Look at their art compared to Tsukihime.

It's as good as it is now.

Nah, I guess he's implying it's considered incredible now.

Quality is getting harder to find, as you know.

If by "beautiful" you mean "lacks detail to the point of being poorly drawn", then I agree.

The regular sprites are good, but the CG art is shit compared to what you see in a lot of visual novels. (the fact that its a doujin game doesn't mean that you hold it to a lower standard)

Doujin VN art, especially when the title is only made by one or two people, was never 'GOOD'.

However, like all other VN art, it HAS improved over time. Still remains distinctively doujin, though.

(note that I'm talking about doujin art that appears in full-length VNs, not really short works, like Koi no Bashi, which have understandably higher production values)

Really? Well, to each his own. I really like Niwatori's artistic style... that's at least 10% of the reason I'm looking forward to seeing the second EDEN demo at comiket.

I was, in fact, partly thinking of the Hanabira series when I was talking about shorter titles with higher production values. They look quite nice (nice enough that I had one of the CGs as my desktop background for a while), but only take about four hours to read through apiece.

Of course, to each his own, that's why discussion about art styles often leads to heated arguments.
Personally, I don't really like sharp lines.

It was this kind of thinking led him to believe that it's alright to go with creating just one character. It would seem anatomical proportions aren't really his forte either. I'm still trying to forget Sauropod-neck Akiha.

Is that something designed to make us feel even better about Tsukihime's art ?
Because it looks like it.
