I think the capes make a huge difference. I don't even play touhou anymore because all the new games suck, and the first time I saw her, I was like, eh headphones girl. But then cape and awesomeness.

I think secondary art also reflects this. Headphone girls tend to be portrayed as meek and docile. Cape girls tend to have a lot of confidence and awesomeness.

I admit, Ichirin is so much fun to play, because of BROFIST.
Yeah, other characters can fight with dishes, water gun, tanukis disguised as youkai stampede, stars, etc, but Ichirin & Unzan use good ol' fisticuffs. I also imagine if Yuugi is playable character in the next fighting game, oh God, that will be awesome

For Momiji case, I'm certain that if she doesn't have animal ears. In canon appearances, Momiji has more appearances without animal ears (SoPM, WaHH, MOF) than with animal ears (that 3 fairies manga)

Please stop it, I can't decide wether Futo or Miko is the cutest and it's causing me existential problems.
I already had trouble with Yoshika and Kogasa, this is just overkill.

On the other hand it just made me realise that there are no cute touhou character that are UFO exclusive since all the cute ones reapear in TD. (I don't care much about mouse Tewi)
