Anyone have any good books about Shintoism?

I wanna invent a new religion that's like Christianity mixed with Shintoism.

It already exists. It's called catholicism. Same crap, really. Paganism + rites + some traces of christianity.

>books about Shintoism

There aren't any, because Shintoists are born and raised into their religion. The fact that you're asking for books just shows your western bias; you expect every religion to be like Christianity where its practitioners are constantly thrusting holy books in your face.

>> No.11030789

Pretty sure something like that already exists.

He's not necessarily looking for a holy book, just information on the religious beliefs.

Don't worry, OP, there's books on Shintoism. /jp/ isn't the best place to ask, though. /lit/ might give you a better answer.

I think the official scriptures to the govt.-associated variety of shinto are available online if you know Japanese. I've never checked so I don't know where, but I betcha they indeed are.

This isn't the yazidi religion we're talking about here, "shinto" just means native folk religion in Japan, or at least the parts of which aren't explicitly exclusively Buddhist.

If he is a NEET, I expect it to find an excuse for wasting away his life.

Even reclusive monks from most other religions find an occupation or work to support their (modest) lifestyles.

These abbots in norway make some good beer, ya know?
