A third of my department is Japanese, and communication between them and the English speakers is... well, painful... and my boss's boss is Japanese, and it would be nice to effectively communicate with him. Is Rosetta Stone worth it, or what is the best alternative? My interest has gone from casual hobby, to might need if I get relocated to Japan.

The company library has the book, 'Japanese for Busy People' and a bunch of English to Japanese dictionaries, not a big help.

Rosetta Stone is fine for conversational Japanese. But it won't teach you the language, if that makes sense.

Rosetta stone is the only way to learn japanese. I used it, and can watch raw anime and read LNs fluently now. Remember that nobody has successfully pirated the real version, so most of the hates have only tried the pirated shitty version.
