The CG fighting was badly animated. Also, you depart from 3.0 expecting 4.0 would be filled with kindness toward Shinji from Asuka, Rei, Katsuragi and the rest to temper the harshness in 3.0, but the preview just shows shitty action scenes. It does not seem to resolve 3.0 in a satisfying way.

However, it's just a preview, so of course they'll cram it full of all the action scenes instead of the character development scenes, since they think the action is more exciting. It's not, but they think so.

I agree. I miss the cell animation. I wonder if Anno is truly satisfied with this. He always seemed like such a perfectionist. Maybe huge success of his work lead him into a new depression. Like, apathy.
