D does an omnidirectional attack and A is a projectile. She becomes invincible while running and does a strong attack after a short while out of it. You can just run past the youkai, hit Mamizou, start spamming THE FUCK out of attack + projectile, and then press D. Speaking as someone who adores Satori, I can say that I believe that she has very bad taste. It's not like she ever goes out at all, so she wouldn't really need or be able to develop good taste in a vacuum. She does have surprisingly good poise when dealing with people, though. I was really impressed when she actually attempted diplomacy with people who broke into her house for ill-defined reasons, and even had the presence of mind to offer Reimu tea.

Well, being an oni doesn't make you strong in and of yourself. Remember, Suika and Yuugi are at the very tip top of the oni. The 4 Divas of the Mountain are absolutely the strongest of their race in the same way Marisa and Reimu represent humans. Stage level is directly correlated to how much of a fight they can/want to put up. That's why someone like Yuyuko can drop 5 stages, and how Yukari can go from extra to semi-final. Either way, Komachi got in on one game that wasn't even very relevant to her, and ZUN was planning on bringing Mokou and Kaguya back for UNL It hurts more knowing that they could've been playable more than knowing they didn't have a chance at all. Some characters just drop off the charts because of complete lack of relevance, like every stage 1 boss ever, or that ZUN just doesn't like them, like Flandre, or that ZUN wants to spite everyone and their bones.

Well, some characters have a decent enough excuse not to appear much anymore (Flandre's stuck in the basement, Meiling's stuck at the gate, Komachi and Eiki have important jobs to do what with maintaining the spiritual afterlife and all that).

I think perhaps part of it is just that ZUN feels like he should (or just plain wants to) keep making new characters for the games rather than reuse old ones. Though Cirno is definitely the odd exception to that.
