Reimu's probably very much like a cat you probably know or have met.
She'll sit around all day doing nothing and being lazy, but will attack any bug or mice that come by. That is if they pose a threat or annoyance, or else she might just ignore them.
She might not actively seek out your presence or even enjoy it, but she will tolerate it and go with the flow. If you pet her, she won't stop you. She may or may not look annoyed though.
Many times she might even act like a complete bitch to you for no reason whatsoever or maybe just be a little hostile.

But sometimes, just sometimes, when you are browsing /jp/ on the computer late at night on your computer chair, she just might come up to you and quietly snuggle up in your lap.

Something people don't seem to keep in mind is that Nitori is an opportunist. She doesn't just grub money.

Keep in mind people, that she of suppose to kill youkai, it is her duty in life to be an exterminator.
How many times has she fought youkai and let them live? Alice, Kaguya, Remi, Patche, Yuyuko, Youmu, Cirno, Chen, Ran, and all of your other favorite youkai should be dead.
Sure SHOULD have killed each and every one of them. It is her job, her duty.
And yet, she lets them all live.
What goes on in Reimu is a battle between social expectation and morality. A battle between duty and compassion.
She is without a doubt the most "human" character in the series.
