This might be true for many people in our society, but it's not because of the rape itself. It has far more to do with the way our society views rape and how it conditions women to feel that having sex against their will is the worst thing that could possibly happen to them.

Look at some of the far more primitive cultures throughout the world or older civilizations where rape was common place. Those women aren't suffering from horrible psychological trauma because being raped is relatively normal in their culture. It's an unpleasant experience for them, but they get on with their lives and they don't see it as much worse than how most people would feel about being mugged on the street and beaten up.
