Well I have a lot more fun watching them play rather than doing it myself actually. I suppose streaming while playing would bring the best of both worlds but I lack the communication skills for it.

For recorded videos, it saves a lot of time since they usually cut all the boring parts. For live videos, it kind of feels like playing with friends I suppose. I'd rather actually play with friends if I had any mind you.

Besides, some people are just fun and interesting. As I don't believe there's a big difference in playing vs watching (as opposed to, say, doing sports would help stay fit while watching sports on TV doesn't) I would much rather see an interesting guy play than have my boring self do it.

It certainly does. I see no real appeal in watching someone play Touhou for instance. A game like Heavy Rain though (it seemed like everyone was doing it on NND about a year ago), there's a lot of fun to be had.

Then there are all the interesting gimmicks I couldn't possibly reproduce like the two guys playing Mario while seeing only half of the screen each, the guy playing Zelda blindfolded by listening to the user's comments, or the brother and sister having their 75 year old grandmother beat the first world of Super Mario World.

Someone mentioned パズドラ gets a lot of viewers on nico so I checked it out once out of curiosity and found 一花 (http://com.nicovideo.jp/community/co1926374).).

I really like watching her stream even if パズドラ gets boring pretty fast. She's interesting/funny and is always talking with her viewers.

It always blows my mind how... ``open'' female Japanese streamers are. They answer all the personal questions people ask them. It's a bit off-putting to be honest.

So I tried to ignore all my prejudices against パズドラ (it is terrible, how you can even bear watching that ?) and female streamers (yes they're cute but between a popular average looking guy and a popular cute girl, the odds that it's the guy who's doing the most interesting show are pretty high) and checked your link.

Obviously, it had to be a member's only community but since I wanted to be open I joined the community to check. Then of course it was no surprise to discover that she doesn't allow time shift of her streams. So while I don't link judging without having actually seen an actual show, I would guess that it falls right within all the clichés associated with female streamers. By the way, them being open to all personal questions is just a mark of acute attention whoring. By all means, please try watching something else.

It's a fun game to play and it's fun to see what teams the upper tier players play/how they play it (she's spent 291k yen on the damn thing). But yeah, I did say it gets boring to watch really fast. It's more like something in the background while she's doing a regular 顔出し stream.

Been doing some reading seems like Japan has basically non existent laws in regards to owning exotic animals you can get pretty much anything.

Not sure of her exact situation with these animals, cant see how she has a place to keep them when they get bigger.

The two things that the chat usually does is worry about her and accuse each other of being lolicons for worrying about her (even though she's 20).
One of her channel moderators is helping her getting her life in order (Takepanda, she talks with him on skype fairly often), he made her stop doing outside broadcasts in the middle of the night (she used to broadcast from like 8-9 pm to 4-5 am). I enjoyed those streams but I guess it's for the best.
