I like Aki Eda's lines, there's an inherent motion to them. Some record of the quality of her stylus' motion when she drew it. It doesn't really add anything to the panels, but it makes me really enjoy her art.

I also appreciate that she rarely draws things in which the proportioning or gesture offend my visual tastes.

Then again, I guess I'm not someone who is bothered by this 'sameface syndrome' or simplification in her panels.

That said... I also don't generally care much for her work in SSiB. I find that her doujinshi are a better reflection of her artistic merits, whatever your opinion of them may be.

Her stories and ZUN's stories are of two totally different types, so I'd say it doesn't really make sense to directly compare them.

Personally, I don't happen to like the one ZUN wrote for her, and much prefer the fluff she creates when left to her own devices.

Chado's doujinshi are the most inane out there. Keep him far away from the official Touhou stuff.

As for SSiB, the only thing that ruins it is Aki Eda's art. I'm quite fond of the relaxed pace; ZUN takes this approach with all of his official manga.

SSiB would be wonderful if Aki Eda wasn't the one drawing it.
