This shot of the 3.0 preview is cool.

The fallen EVAs making a giant AT field while Shinji blocks out the world. Seems somehow significant.

But that's DEEP SYMBOLISM. Shinji has reverted into a self-contained state to avoid being hurt, and his shadowclone fallen Evas have projected a huge AT field to avoid harm similarly.

Sounds a lot like 4.0 is going to end up resolving each character arc in the opposite way original NGE did, also.

Asuka, instead of falling into an egotistical depression, learns that being close to people is good, literally bonding her Eva with Mari's. Shinji will probably end up being 'saved' from his depressive state by Asuka/Mari/whoever instead of falling deeper into it as he did in NGE.
