Cirno's Vengeance 1, 2, EX, Spaceland Adventure 1, 2, and the games before those were all experiments. Spaceland Adventure 3 is when I started making it for fun. Alice Xi was made to take advantage of having unlimited achievements on games (I put 55, naturally). Cirno Xi was both created for fun and an experiment. Spaceland Adventure 1 was a bridge game of sorts. Spaceland Adventure 2 is the game I worked the hardest on, with my Cirno Day game (The Strongest Battle) being the second. The Ezam games were made for the fun of it since they were easy to make, but I later incorporated them in my Spaceland series.

Spaceland Adventure 2: I wanted to show I was capable of making a half-decent Flash shooting game while incorporating some ideas I couldn't do in the past due to lack of knowledge

Nyancat Frenzy: I always wanted to do a "shoot nyancats" thing, but with Spaceland Adventure over, I couldn't think of anything. When I found out the music for Nyancat was taken off of a Miku video, it all fell into place.

The Fall of Nonoba: I knew Nonoba was about to die, so I made a game about it.

As much as I like that idea, I don't see it happening anytime soon, even more if we take into consideration the new population of /jp/.

Fact is, even if KOG games are simplistic, he's probably one of the few guys who had something done in here, and people in the end just laughed at him.
I'm pretty sure there was also a /jp/ VN flying around back then and basically the same thing happened : people made fun of it.

This is a motivation killer, plain and simple.

Also, if we really plan to make a game we should do this the "good" way, being a little more serious, planning what kind of game it'll be, gathering materials etc.
Or more like, it'd be a first to find what kind of game we should make first because after around 200+ replies we still haven't agreed on a single genre. Some of them want a VN, others a platform game, others a raise-simulation game, etc.

I'm a coder, and I'm pretty sure most of the old /jp/ users can code something decent, either on C#/Java or glorious C/C++. Fact is, most of them would probably not participate because of all the reasons I mentionned earlier.

well, then it's just a matter of quality.
i'll try to adress the problems here, at least according to my own beliefs.
-projects without direction, made by a group of strangers will lack [personality]. and [personality] is incredibly important for real likeability.
-it always ends up in a bland mess because the people who really need to step up and bring their personality don't do it.

basically, what we need is good artistic direction. but for that we need people (especially in the story department) to step up their game. in the end it's just a challenge of skill. we fail because we suck, that's all there is to it. if you want to succeed, do it until you don't suck anymore.

so how many people are there who could help in programming a simple VN?

I'm a drawthread regular and I'd have to agree with this, on my part.

I pulled out of a certain non-/jp/ related drawfag project when the project manager wanted everybody to ~*~work together~*~ on the project by arranging the art in a certain way (giant group image as apposed to artbook format), and I hastily declined due to that reason. Fuck that shit. I wasn't gonna prod the drawfags next to me in the image if they fucked up, it's not my fault most of the artists involved in that bullshit don't know what artistic components (basic understanding of aesthetics, color, overall harmony, etc.) are necessary for large group images featuring multiple styles and artists, especially if they are trying to impress certain famous people. (Yes, I am an elitist faggot to some extent, deal w/ it)

Suppose we were to make a point and click adventure set in gensokyo, who would be interested in it?

We need: writer, programmer

Composer and artist is optional but would be nice.

I can help with the programming. We could use Adventure Game Studio. I never used it to be honest but it shouldn't be too hard.

How to have a succesful project: Write everything. Every single concept, dialogue, scenery, etc. Then, start looking for people. Everything else will progress smoothly as soon as you find a dedicated and talented artist.

What kind of programmer doesn't know how to program?

Also why can't we use OC instead of retreading more 2hu stuff.

>> No.10846399

>>10846385
Well that was a poor choice of words. You don't really need to know programming with AGS, it's more like a tool, not a programming language

Artist? Optional? In a point and click adventure? I'm pretty sure there are easy-to-use engines out there that make the programmer redundant, but the artist is clearly vital to point-and-click games.

Well it's always possible to steal images from pixiv or use programmer art.

Maybe a programmer isn't needed either if there are already programs out there to make a point and click adventure.

Well, I'm a game programmer and I think I can help if you guys resort to make a game. The caveat is that I'm quite busy with college and job's stuff, so I might not be able to help right now.

My speciality is XNA 4.0/Monogame, but I also know how to use Unity, Processing, HTML5, Flash (ActionScript 3.0 only) and SDL. We can set an open source project so everyone can help with the code.

CAPTCHA: accomplished oymehel. I have a good feeling!

I'm leaving an e-mail for you guys to send a message if you require my help on the project.

I have my hands full with my own project but I wish the best of luck to all /jp/ers! I was supposed to post it this weekend (I even mentioned it in this thread) but I figured posting it during the week would be much better.

Maybe we shouldn't make something that needs writers then.

this. since writing (or rather: ideas) is the problem, i think we should just focus on creating characters.
or decide on which characters to use if it's touhou, and proceed from there.
writing can be difficult but coming up with a plotline or events isn't that hard.

forget about writing, just come up with stuff for the characters to do. eventually something reminisscent of a story will form. and it''ll probably be more fun to read.

I can write really character driven, atmospheric stuff. Just give me your rough outline and a little consultation time, and I can work out personalities that can be placed in any scenario.

Personally, I've been kicking around the idea of a four panel in which several hikki- try to "do something" with their lives. And fail. Repeatedly.
I was hoping to write an overreaching story in which each one finds their own niche in which they can be comfortable enough to claim to be "functioning." Even make friends with a normal person or two.

If you guys want to contribute ideas, or take the concept and use it for a different medium, I'd love to participate. My drawing skills are pretty terrible anyway. (Think somewhere between a drunk Jamie Hewlett and early Tite Kubo)

The only caveat I've got on is that I'm bipolar (BP2 if you must ask). It's most of the way managed, but it does mean that I spend about 50% of my days doing this and the other 50% being awesome at everything.
(Or at least mildly clever. BP2 lights your brain up without the psychosis, so it means I can work/study at 9001 miles an hour and talk comfortably with anybody...but only 50% of the time.)
