Flan is the single most memorable Touhou. Her theme is the most popular Touhou song. By far.

It's not just because EoSD was the first game. It had an incredible cast and no other game was able to top it.

IN was still the best in my opinion. It was the most polished, the music was godly, the characters were also ''memorable'' although in popularity EoSD definitely wins. Tons of characters to choose from, and the spell cards were beautiful and challenging (even if this is the easiest of them all) I also really liked the dialogue between characters especially when playing as Marisa.

EoSD is also great but has a lot of things that annoy me, for example the way it starts off INCREDIBLY easy at the beginning and then around after cirno it suddenly becomes one of the harder Touhou games. The music sounds extremely electronic and generic at times, even if the melodies are extremely catchy ZUN is known for borrowing melodies what he is good at is taking a simple melody and creating something amazingly unique and eargasm giving. I wonder why U.N.Owen escaped the fate of Doll Judgment. It is always in the top 4 most popular songs in polls. In my opinion immersion is the most important aspect. Since I am playing the game to escape life, I want to be fully immersed. I think SA is the best overall game and has the best cast. IN and PCB are also pretty good and I would rank them and their cast over EoSD.

Something about the EoSD cast is that they are all connected and live in the same place. Much more interwoven with each other. I feel that casts of other games seem disconnected and aren't numerous in said connections. As in the Moriya shrine only really has three central characters while the Scarlet Devil Mansion has a lot more well-known inhabitants, which sets up a better cast for doujin works.

And Remilia and Flandre aren't even the best characters in EoSD, so ZUN didn't peak with "loli vampires"
