It was a clear example of a translation that would take more time to TLC than to retranslate from scratch. The original translator started retranslating it after he finished translating it the first time because even he realized how terrible it was (apparently he learned enough that his newer translation was much better), but he gave up and disappeared around 3% in or so.

Belatedly, the guy who's retranslating C+C is only slightly better than Ixrec at Japanese and still a far cry from good. His version will certainly be more fun to read, since he's the opposite (often to a fault) of Ixrec's slavishly literal translation style, but neither translation really resembles the original.

Please observe this image that was once posted on http://georgehenryshaft.wordpress.com/2013/03/23/editing-week-2/ and I have just now discovered is not. Maybe someone tipped the guy off that #tlwiki was talking shit about him. I have no reason to believe his translation style has changed significantly, especially since the other screenshots were all like this.

The original text for this scene is:

Now, let me draw attention to some portions, though I must note I don't claim to be even passable at Japanese myself:
"the rifle of my pride" is, at best, a horribly awkward translation of 俺の自慢のライフル - "my vaunted rifle" would be much better to preserve the overdone style he's going for here. Mistakenly, in my opinion.
すぐに自分から欲しがるようになるぜぇ means something like "I'm gonna make (your body) start wanting it soon enough!" idk. The key thing here is it's very, very casual. Seriously, "covetiousness in the bat of eyes?" What the fuck is that?
Same deal with 聞く耳持つか. It's a very common idiom that at its core means "I'm not listening." It doesn't need nine words.

So yeah. It communicates the meaning of the original text. It just doesn't resemble it stylistically in the slightest.
