Do they not know of the word idol? Regardless, most of the girls are not underage, some of the more popular members are in their mid 20s.

The idol thing is even worse than loli comics, it's basically mizu shobai for kids. I can't disagree with anything he's saying, AKB48 is terrible in every way.

That said, underage girls in sexy clothing... yeah, that represents Japanese culture pretty well. Land of loli comics - heck, the real thing was legal there for the longest time, and not very long ago either, maybe 20 years ago.

Hey, at least they aren't Cambodia and keep it (mostly) to the fantasy level.

Though Japan's created an industry around it, it's not like the US is any better. Disney girls turn into supersluts right quick and they're exploited like any other celebrity. Apparently, pedophilia is rampant in Hollywood, but most evidence to that is anecdotal.
