Dexter Lab (pre-renewel) shit on those shows and Billy and Mandy was only decent for like half of the first season. EEE was boring crap and PPG's only good trait was its theme songs. And of course Space Ghost sprayed diarrhea on everything else.

I, being someone with non-shit tier humor, grew up on real cartoons like the early Simpsons that weren't tailored to children. The only good cartoon specifically aimed at kids was Spongebob which I never even bothered with until it was pretty much over and I was already in high school.

Now you know why I'm superior to everyone else on /jp/.

For the record, SpongeBob turned to crap after the movie. It was supposed to be a finale to the series, but then they wanted to make more episodes and hired more writers.
It also set the precedent for a lot of dumb random cartoons that I loathe. Chowder, Flapjack, (probably) Invader Zim... I seriously want that whole trend to die. There was a similar problem with Ren & Stimpy knock-offs in the 90s.

Why aren't Western cartoons animated well?

/co/ has a pretty cool troll image comparing the variety of facial expressions in Ren & Stimpy (1992) to the static "c:" face in Adventure Time (2010) and I think that sums up my feelings quite well.

I get that it's easier to make cartoons in Flash or Toon Boom Studio but they all look so fucking boring. Everything has thick lines and moves too perfectly. Why can't they just do whatever it is cartoons used to do, but do it with a computer to help? A lot of Japanese cartoons look a little too smooth and use computer animation, but they still look fluid and animated. A character rotates their head and their face actually turns, instead of looking like it's a texture on a 3D model (or just flipping the layer or some other lazy hack).

For some reason I never liked any Cartoon Network stuff.

Nickelodeon cartoons were awesome though. Same with the syndicated and Saturday morning cartoons like on Fox and such.

God-tier cartoons were in the 80's though. They were animated really well. But maybe that was because they were mostly contracted out to the Japanese back then or something.
